Quote: Nice to see the bump and movement in the right direction for you guys.
I recently visited job fair and had a phone screen with one of the captains/recruiters.
I enjoyed the conversations and I liked the folks I have interacted with as they seemed "on the level" about pros and cons. I found a lot to like about what I heard (great flying, decent pay, great crews/equipment, good advancement opportunities and a management that sounds interested in making it an attractive place to hang around for the long term).
The 8/6 schedule is daunting, however. It sounds like a 7/7 just ain't going to happen. OK....
For me, if the vacation time schedule was improved, the 8/6 would be far more attractive. Man, would love to see 2 weeks vacation offered at year two. 3 weeks at year 5. Then, it would be a super appealing opportunity.
Anyone there see a glimmer of hope in this regard?
I wholeheartedly agree. It shouldn't take 5 years to get to 2 weeks of vacation. 3 years max. But no I wouldn't bet on it anytime soon, or ever. But hey I've been wrong before.

Thanks for the feedback and updated info, MOGUY. I hope you are wrong...
Quick question: What days do you start/end rotations?

I also agree. I had the phone screen conversation and it went very well. The pilot screener was open and candid about the pros and cons. Personally, I decided to turn down the technical screening. 8/6 with poor vacation isn't going to work long term and I am not trying to use XOJet as a stepping stone at this point in my career.
7/7 with decent vacation... different story.

I get that. For most of us coming here it's a stepping stone to a cush corporate job or until a legacy calls. If you are happy where you are at stay. For me it was night and day from the regional I came from as a stepping stone to a major, for others it might be a step backwards, which I'd advise against now with all the opportunity out there. If you are 40 years old or less, I wouldn't make it a career place. I think the place you're looking for is NJ, as long as you can swing gear for 13 years.

I'm just now jumping into this thread. I'm thinking about moving on from my corporate King Air job and applying at XOJet.

Anyone know the training dates for new hires?

We have been hiring constantly, no waiting pool as of now. Usually get class date within a few weeks of successful interview. All info under XoJet profile up to date and current.

Potential new hire
I ran into an XOJet pilot in the FBO, and we started talking companies. I work for a smaller competitor and was intrigued by XOJet's aircraft and better pay scale. Though I don't know anybody in the company, I threw in an app. All they can do is ignore it, right?

But should I get the call, the question I won't ask - because it isn't appropriate - has to do with the work day. Specifically, how many legs (and how long) are XOJet pilots flying per workday? I usually fly 3-6, mostly quick turns, with the usual catering issues, gas, flight planning, etc. It can suck the fun out of flying pretty quickly.

At the risk of sounding naïve, is it better at XOJet? Are there fewer legs? Does ops change the game plan halfway through every day? Is there a little bit of downtime built into the day, or is it go-go-go?

As much as I love the work, I want to enjoy it a bit more and stress a bit less. Thanks y'all.

Why is this an inappropriate question? If you don't ask them what the day is like, they will most certainly make sure you're well aware of what a typical day is like to make sure you're up for it. You're interviewing them just as much as they are interviewing you. You need to know the good and the bad before you make your decision. BTW, sounds like you're working harder now than you would at XO...
