Quote: Good friend of mine was standing in line at the roachburger joint before flying a delayed by 84 hours LGA flight. He was chatting it up with a Mesa capt going the same direction when an inebriated passenger interrupted asking what the weather was is NYC because his wife is scared to fly in bad weather. My friend looks at him and says "CRAPPY" then exits the line leaving the Mesa guy to deal with the fallout.
Did this turn into 'Hero of the Day' thread? Awesome!

My Tool of the Day and Month
The woman screaming at the gate agent in Key West because she waited for the very last flight from EYW to MIA for a JFK connection. When our lovely ATR had a maintenance issue they had to send another down and this woman was screaming how she is now going to miss her wedding. Who waits for the last flight the day before their wedding?

Then she went ballistic again when every single airline from MIA, FLL, TPA, MCO, and Jax all had oversold flights and there were no seats available.

I really don't know how the gate agent put up with it. I had leave for fear of laughing too hard.

Quote: ACL, I don't know about millions, but if someone dropped $940K on me, I'd round it up.
True that. What was it that Steve Martin said about rounding:

“If you've got a dollar and you spend 29 cents on a slice of bread, you've got 71 cents left; But if you've got a million bucks and you spend 29 cents on a slice of bread, you've still got a million bucks. There's a math lesson for you.”

And he didn't come remotely close to bringing 940k (plus all his other compensation) in value to a fake ACMI provider rolling in guaranteed profits. He was just along for the ride and got richly over rewarded simply for being there.

Quote: I nominate those skippers and or F/Os who make PAs from the main entry way and think its good customer service.

Yeah it was novel when it was new but now everyone from legacy to so called LCC to regional all seem to do it from time to time.

I think the best thing we can do is to make as few PA's as possible other than those required and the very few others generally appreciated like holding but even then only when its going to make you late. One turn while you're projected to be 35 minutes early does not qualify for a PA.

Our FA's and even gate agents already spam the poor pax and that's after they've endured the audibile shellacking in the concourse. The vast majority of the time the best PA we can give is no PA at all.

Any pax that thinks they are entitled to get any other airline to automatically "honor their ticket" from another airline. Tool of the day.

Quote: I received an explanation of the Paleo diet and the merits of cross fit for about 30 min one flight. Also why drinking water from the Dasani bottles and hot liquids from styrofoam cups causes cancer. He had to explain to each new A-line about how he wanted his coffee from the china that they serve first class.

Another CA just read some conspiracy theory book about the economy and the Federal Reserve. I had to listen to this for 4 DAYS!!!
I had a Capt who briefed the entire electrical fire checklist(s) including everyones responsibilities - every F/A change...Really?

At my last outfit, I had a guy lecture me for 4 days about how vaccines were poison.

It took all my will not to laugh him out of the cockpit...but I tried to be a "good guy", and hopefully save one of his kids from having something bad happen.

I have a degree in molecular biology, but no amount of careful explanation on how things really work seemed to phase him in the slightest.

I've come to realize that most people are drama queens, in some form or another, and will latch on to anything, no matter how foolish it makes them look, to further that.
