Hmmmm that's a little concerning, I got my initial email last Friday and still haven't heard anything. Any thoughts?

I rec my initial email on 28 Dec, email stated what week to expect the follow-on email with Hogan log in, 8 days later it arrived as promised....... some individuals received initial email same day as I did and the follow-on e-mail the next day.... I believe UAL spreads it out, work on your hobby if you are not prepping... as I tell my teenage daughter "Step away from the iPhone"...lol. ! Easier said now that I am through it!

Anyone on the hiring board or in management that could answer a question- A bit of background first: after attending a few job fairs and speaking with recruiters I was told that my lack of a current training event is an issue since it's been many years since my last (with a failure).

My specific question- would obtaining a 737 type rating be of value to me at this point to prove to United I'm capable of passing a training event? Especially since Southwest Airlines has dropped that requirement and United has 737's.

Usually, seeing that somebody paid for a 737 type rating means that they REALLY want to work for SWA.

It's the $10,000 interview fee.

I wouldn't do that.

I had the "737 typed?" box checked on my airlineapps with no time in the actual aircraft and it never even came up in the interview. And this was months before SWA said they are doing away with that requirement. I don't think they are all that worried about SWA in that regard anymore...I think that dynamic has changed a bit.

I highly doubt anyone from management or anyone doing any interviews is going to respond to your post as requested. The closely guarded company secret is how many points each box you check on airlineapps is actually worth...that's the key. But hey, I can't blame you for trying. Good luck.

Nobody in one of those positions is going to answer that question on a public forum.

Also, it is impossible to answer that question with the two paragraphs of background info.

If you want the the best guess, I would work with an Interview prep person.

If you pay for the interview prep up front, and let them know you'd like the prep later, but would like an app review now + advice on trouble spots now...they'll hook you up, and work with you to the end.

My $.02 - how the 'F' can a new type rating and working on your professional development hurt? If you are listening to someone saying it will mark you for Southwest and the legacies wont look at you - well, chances are you are getting advice from someone that uses a jitterbug phone.
