You find out what airplane and base is available day one. You then bid for them in seniority order. Seniority in the class is by age, yes.

It will keep up. There are 74 A320 slots to be filled by September, vs 22 on the E190. Of course, a new system bid will close in 6 weeks, so that will reshuffle things a bit.

Since deliveries are only on the Airbus side, expect hiring to continue to be mostly Airbus for the foreseeable future, with occasional medium sized E190 classes to cover people bidding out.

How many for BOS 320 are needed?

As of the last bid 13. Not sure how many new hires have filled those since.

Just slightly. They usually offer a bunch of A320 JFK spots to newhires, then you would be able to transfer to BOS on the next system bid.
