I'm not in agreement with that. To me, you should have exhausted all other resources- including selling things - before asking others. Again, just the way I was raised. You don't roll up in an Escalade asking for a free turkey at Thanksgiving. I've seen too many cases of Go Fund me accounts only to see Facebook pics at Disneyland 2 weeks later. Really? To be clear I'm not saying that's the case in your example at all, but retirement should be on the table. Life happens as you say and that requires difficult and uncomfortable financial measures.
the BPF wants to punch you in the face if you wait that long to ask for help. I know I'm the same way and have been told as such. I can help myself I don't need help, we'll figure it out, I can make it work.... yadda. the BPF is there to help. Not when you get knocked down. But when you get dropkicked from the top rope, double teamed, then hit with a chair.
before you get hauled off on the stretcher call the bpf... It's not for the douche who says, "well I didn't think first year pay was that bad"... It's always the we were fine "and then"... 'and then"...
We're all proud, but if you find yourself in that situation. You've sold the car, the boat, double triple mortgaged the house, hoping that jb doesn't mess up your paycheck because you wont be able to put food in your kids mouth and you need to do what needs to be done. Please. call.
