Quote: I'm in this group right now. I'm waiting for IOE. Sounds like the class before is just starting to get calls for IOE. Rumor we heard before finishing was a month gap. After talking with someone in the class ahead of me he confirmed he's been off for a month plus some now.

Im CRJ ORD. What is your equip/base? How long will my wait be? Is it based on senority? Im junior in my CRJ ground sim class.

I'm EMJ ORD. Not sure how they schedule IOE. I would imagine it's seniority based (top to bottom from class). I know nothing about the CRJ side.

Schedules
I see a lot of people complaining about schedules, but I have never seen anyone post what their actual schedule is for a month.

What makes the TAFB so high with low hours? Are the RONs long? Are there long sits somewhere? I have never seen any airline sit on the ground for any length of time anywhere except an RON or main hub.

I am particularly interested in the 175.

Thanks

Long sits, followed by long over nights, lost weekends, short legs, and dead heads create the inefficient lines.

RON = remain overnight.

4 on/2 off schedules which are usually uncommutable on at least one end. This is a very real schedule and one that I have been working since about April. Used to be 4/3. But think about how that works with family. 1.5 days at home each week isn't going to foster a healthy relationship. And usually you are so exhausted when you finish a trip you're useless for at least 0.5-1 day. So if you're a commuter, by the time you can finally move again, it's time to do laundry and pack the ol' eBag

So here is an example. Make believe numbers which reflect real life.

0700 show Thursday morning.
Leave your family at home Wednesday afternoon.
Arrived in base Wednesday night and check into your commuter hotel.
Wake up Thursday morning and start your trip
Work Thursday-Sunday. Get off Sunday afternoon, commute home and get home about 11pm/midnight.
Wake up late Monday morning with zero energy to move.
Monday afternoon, get some energy, work on the honey-do list/help the kids with homework.
Monday night do laundry and cook/prep meals
Tuesday, wake up and finish honey-do chores.
Tuesday afternoon, leave your family and commute to work
Tuesday night, check into commuter hotel
Wednesday morning, you have a 0630 sign in. Start all over.

I think the morale of the story is try to avoid commuting if possible. What I can't figure out is how we end up with 11 days off per month if we are always 4/2. Thanks for any info.

It's not ALWAYS 4/2. Just one or more stretches of two days off in a row. They can be traded but you risk the chance of it becoming less time or less commutable.
