1) Plenty, I didn't need to wait a year to start taking vacation (the year started from when I joined the cadet program), I didn't need to wait 90 days until I started accruing user time (same reason as the vacation), I got a prime sim time (8am-2 instead of 10pm-2am) & upgrading captain as my sim partner because I was in the front of the class, I got my own room in training (they had 10 single rooms awarded via seniority), I have higher non-rev benefits than my classmates, and while it's understated I got to sit in the front of the classroom (seats assigned via seniority) which I think helped me stay focused.
2) No contract at all for the cadet program, you don't get non-rev benefits until 90 (30?) days out from your class date
3) I didn't do anything for the cadet program after I went to Salt Lake for "orientation", my mentor reached out occasionally to see if I needed anything but I didn't.

Not having to wait as long for vacation is awesome along with the other things (especially sim time) is the biggest gain from this.
Anything else I should know about the program? I go up to SLC in August

Speaking of non-rev benefits, does a SkyWest cadet with a CJO have access to them at any point before their class date? If so, how do you set them up/use them?

Not many people will miss it and I’m sure the base closure party will be epic.

And you'll get info on how too once you have access to skywest employee portal.
If you're goal is skywest, go for it. I was in the program for 1.6 years I'm number 4 in my class, my friend who's in class with me is number 30 something of 50 and he got some bad sim schedule (ATL 0400) I got awesome (SLC 0800) sim.

New Question
I searched the forum, but was hoping to get a recent take from you guys.
I'm interested in Skywest...hoping for a CRJ/DFW domicile (FO). I know there must be a dozen factors, but once holding a line what does the block vs. credit ratio look like? Is it reasonable to think that i could credit 90 or so a month? Also....huge crystal ball, but what does that look like for a CA on year 3 or 4? I'm just starting to figure out the bidding/line process so go easy on me. Thanks in advance.

Four year line holding captain should have no problem grossing $100-110K.

That sounds great, thanks for the quick reply. So, what would be average? I know it’s tough to say, but 95 credit hours or so? I’m planning on living close to the airport, so I’d be highly able to pick stuff up. I hate to get too far ahead of myself....but it sounds like a great opportunity. Some close friends are Captains at a local major, they hands down recommend Skywest based on what they see from the new guys coming in. They say it’s obvious the difference on several levels.
