That’s a tough for sure and kinda happy I don’t need to make that choice. In the end, it’s what’s most important. I’m married and prefer QOL over flight time. But someone is single with no real obligations, commute or move to base.

Also, idk the details of reserve times for each base and equipment, but commuting might not be bad if you could a line and a decent one at that. Again, just depends.

I’d take a close look into each option and see what aligns with my priorities and would be give me the most QOL with the ability to get more flight time if I wanted it.

Anyone have any thoughts, opinions, or experiences on commuting from the Orlando area?

I live about 45 minutes from MCO and 30ish minutes from DAB.

Thanks for your time!

Default New hire starting August

I am a new hire starting in August. I would like to study before hand. Any suggestions?

I live in MSP and willbe in CRJ class. Not sure if I will get MSP right away. What would be that best bases to bid for? Do any other CRJ bases have MSP overnights? I hear commuting from MSP to DTW is a tough commute with strong Delta competition.

Thank you for your help.

Read new hire IOE post talks about how to study for it. Hint, you dont. Study for the written and that's it. DTW is what everyone is getting right now, well most recent bidding class 100% DTW, maybe after IOE you can try MSP.

Can anyone briefly explain pay on the CRJ? On apc it shows 3 different rates for the 200, 700, and 900 so does that mean if one day I fly the 200 and the next I fly the 700 then I’ll have 2 different pay rates on my paycheck? Or are the CRJ rates blended?

2 different pay rates. But now, all FO payrates are blended. The separate payrates are for captain only.

Atlanta is what you want. I currently do it and it’s been one of the easier commutes out of MCO. 25+ flights on most days with 5 different carriers to choose from. Now granted Delta is usually a disaster, but WN, B6, NK and F9 do a great job getting you there. Also first flight in lands in ATL at ~630am, last flight home around 1030-11pm.

How do I start applying for Skywest, how do I prepare for interviews?
What’s the process to get hired, and is there any delays for training?
