could be months before IOE. You may not need a place anytime soon.

Heard about crashpad411 dot com and hotelcrashpads dot com from a recruiter (not sure if linking sites is frowned upon).

Starting training with OO soon on the ERJ. I’m an hour and a half drive from IAH and according to the domicile map it looks like there are quite a few junior bases on the FO side: SFO, BOI, MSP, SEA, SLC.

Just how bad is commuting going to suck for a few months until I can get IAH? I know we don’t have a commuter clause but realistically how hard does the hammer come down when you just can’t get a flight to your base?

Look at passrider or other sites to look at rides on rides between the bases. Probably not terrible to some, ual-ual hubs will have a lot of traffic but maybe few seats. Try to minimize your legs and look at it as a game. Commuting is an adventure, look at it as a fun challenge.

depends on how many commutes you miss. If you miss one to two commutes per year and can show that you had multiple backup plans for each commute that fell apart, you’ll probably be fine.

however if you start missing commutes say more than 6 times a year and always bank on commuting same day or LFOTD the day before your trip with no back up plans to show… you might be getting scheduled for a meeting with your chief to discuss your reliability.

Commuting to reserve. As a junior pilot. On probation. Packed flights. Awful schedule. Defo not fun.

Add in the regular (random) cancellations that all airlines are routinely doing now and you have quite the stressful commute ahead of you.

It does. Im doing it again at a company that has real probation. However, There Is No God on RE1 was a n unusually good sapa resource at the time and positivity helps my sanity. I look at commuting like a trip to a casino. Im going to lose money, so I might as well enjoy the game.
