Got my coupon in the mail today for a turkey or a ham today from SkyWest. I think it is amazing that they still do this. I sincerely appreciate it every year.

The river walk there is pretty nice though...
Interesting point and makes sense with my latest conversation with CS. Sick kid, been to the doctor and not getting better. Didn't feel right leaving for 4 days. Called in and said I was calling off my trip. CS specifically asked me "So you are calling in sick?" I said again, I have a sick kid that I need to be home with. Call it whatever you want, but I won't be coming to work. CS put on my Sched+ as EMR.
So to your point, yes don't say that you are sick if you are not. I don't care if you code it IDAF or SSDD. If you severely limit my options for getting work off when I need it, then I will get time off by any means necessary.
I was like Turbosana once. Perfect attendance and never called in. I won't work sick, but if I had a little scratch in my throat or felt a little under the weather, I would tough it out. But you can't burn pilots out like they are right now. 11-13 days off a month is not enough in this career. So if SW wants to double the size of a base and not add anymore vacation slots, so be it. If they want to load my schedule up with 90+ hours using BS methods in PBS, okay. But I will take whatever time I need to get myself right and be a parent for my kids while I still have the chance. If you don't want to staff the airline to allow me to either bid down in hours or have enough reserves to drop trips, I'll use other methods.
Usually I could survive the rough summers because we had slow months to recharge. But in my base we have 2,000 more block hours this November from last November (12% increase) and we are doing this flying with 60 less pilots. Reserve staffing last Nov was around 19% and this Nov is less than 5%. SW has always ran lean, but this is getting ridiculous.

Whats sad is that it used to be a $50 after tax check.
Really, in the 90's it was a check before taxes that you got and I signed mine over to a charity the day I got it.
Now it's $12, $7.94 in 1995 dollars.

If you're looking for something to do.....Take the hotel shuttle back to the airport and take the MARTA train downtown. Tons of stuff to do. Coke-a-Cola tour, CNN studios, the aquarium etc. etc.
