That's what I would think too but the guy who has a large portion of the crashpads in MSP is asking for a two month commitment.

He probably just means the month you first stay and he wants one month notice when you leave. Like I said, I've never signed anything for a crashpad. Most of this stuff is honor system/don't be a D stuff. Hell, even if he locks you into some commitment, you can probably get out of it if you find someone else to take your spot in the pad.

Dang.. there goes the pizza and beer

But IMHO you wouldn't need a car necessarily for SLC. I did training out there before with SkyWest and it's real easy to get around with public transit and staying at the candlewood suites. Just IMHO if you were debating driving or not...

Hey to add to your comment. They want something like a white pilot shirt, and dark black tie no pattern. Honestly though.. a few years ago they had a clip on tie people would just throw on during 2nd day of ground school to take a picture... how the old days are gone

Some broke, cheap-ass newhire probably stole the tie for his uniform.

Is $11/hour really worth giving that seniority up especially for people with families?
10 years as a Captain doesn't get you much seniority around here. When you say you can have weekends and holiday off in most bases, I don't think that is true. Below is where 10 years puts you in our CRJ bases.

MSP - 13%, ORD - 35%, SFO - 68%, IAH - 70%, DEN - 71%, LAX - 75%, SEA - 78%, PDX - 80%, FAT - 94%, SLC - Plug

ERJ bases ORD - 26%, SFO - 67%, SEA - 77%, DEN - 88%

I don't think anything less than 60% is going to give you a chance at partial weekends and maybe a holiday here or there. With our coverage dates and hours required, it will be interesting to see what people get on their bids over the next two months. My prediction is that there will be a lot of upset folks on the 20th of October and November.

This is the main reason I feel like SGU doesn't care about senior folks. I think they are slowly turning up the heat to see how many folks they can get to bail and lower their costs. I know a CA with 16 years here and only 10 or so left until retirement that is interviewing. Look no further than the unannounced TDT that bypassed seniority into SLC. It seems that SGU wants to help nudge those that are still on the fence.

I'm looking for advice on reserve in ORD. I have a place to stay approximately 2.5 hours drive from ORD door to door. Based on what I've read on this thread it sounds like that may be too far away, is that true? Does it matter AM or PM, 175 or CRJ?

That may not work! I know in MSP the call out is 2 hours. BUT... realistically crew scheduling will TRY and call you as far as advance as possible i.e. morning call for an evening show... don't plan on that though

Are we to have received any aircraft specific material to study at this point? The only things I have received are generic company policy tutorials which I've completed aside from the SMS course which I can't seen to get beyond the 4 minute video at the beginning. The button to move forward never becomes active. Strange..
