Skywest
Thanks, I'm entering year 6 of RSV at RAH. Now getting displaced again commuting to RSV on the east coast. So several of us are thinking of giving up on Republic and coming over to Skywest where at least we can drive to work or have a short west commute. Giving up 9 years seniority is a tough decision though.
Before anyone asks, no I won't move from DEN to IND/CMH/PHL/PIT/EWR. Starting over at a new airline is preferable.
Thanks again for the answer.

But re. seniority...it's water under the bridge, don't get emotionally attached to it. It's only value is what it offers in terms of current and future RELATIVE seniority in a base/equipment/seat that you want to be in, and it sounds like that's not much in your case.
What you have is longevity, which translates to pay scale and benefits like vacation, 401k, etc. Do take that into account.

You'd get DEN or COS almost right away on the CRJ. If living in base in that important, I'd go for that airframe to start.

Another thing you might consider if you're set on the 175. They are always looking for ground/ftd instructors. You could do that while letting your seniority build. Not a bad gig if you live in Denver.

I had a situation a few weeks ago. On reserve they assigned a trip but due to mx delay by the time we were to take off it would taken us past our 16 hours of duty before we would have landed. When talking to crew scheduling about it they didn't argue at all and put us up in a hotel. Had that 2 hour extension been available to them they would have used it. They didn't even bring it up. It would have allowed us to finish the trip.
In my opinion that 16 hours is a hard number and cannot be planned to be extended under any circumstance. I guess this is a scenario in which the pilot will have to exercise their judgment on the reg. In my case I'm not accepting anything that puts me beyond 16 hours of duty (scheduled) on reserve period. But that's just me and my understanding of the reg.

CS and the system controller said the following: "No problem guys, we had to ask.".
I have NEVER been punished for saying I'm not comfortable with "X", and here's why... Neither have the captains that I saw do this over the years (thus teaching me what to do). Sometimes you just have to do some of that pilot stuff and make an informed decision and STICK with it. In my experience, you will not be called out for that as long as it's legit. I realize there are exceptions and I'm sure there's somebody that's had to battle it out... But for the most part they'll go with your decision, particularly when it's based on SAFETY.

If RAP max is 14 hours, and extension max (once in a 7-day period) is 2 hours, how would one ever have to work past 16 hours outside of "unforeseen delays such as weather"?

With AA mainly shifting its regional flying to its wholly owned subsidiaries and DAL and UAL starting to slow its regional flying and bring that flying back in-house, do you think SkyWest will start to go down? I understand that SkyWest just won a bid from DAL however I think that slowly DAL will bring all of its regional flying to its mainline.
