This has really thrown a kink into what I thought would be a seamless transition seeing that I have an offer to PIC a King Air 200 around for an operator who's aircraft flies every single day.
If we are still hiring in a year, you'd have to re-apply. Offers are for specific class dates; equipment can be changed easily.

Hi guys,

I would think this question has been asked and answered before but instead of me weeding through 160+ pages of threads I would appreciate if someone could answer this question for me.

If one is turned down by skywest, is there a time period you must wait to re-apply? And is there a maximum number of times they allow you to interview?

Thanks for all responses. And for the record, I have not interviewed, yet.

Six months is the normal waiting period. I think (but not sure) they'll let you interview at least three times. It was normal way back in the day to get hired on the re-attack.

I interviewed last July and did not hear anything for 3 weeks. In response to my followup query I received an email that said "After careful consideration, we have decided to invite you back for another interview in 6 months."

Is that a normal rejection response? They did not ask me to re-apply - just invited me to another interview.

My sources say that it was more likely an internal paperwork problem.

For those that are waiting for an interview call, I got an email yesterday that said "We will not be doing interviews in January, but will start up again in February. Please contact me around the second week of January and I should have my schedule by then so we can set you up."

Thanks for the help. The contract is for a corporate/charter job where they want to send me to training and will naturally expect to get an ROI from me so they do not throw their money away. This would normally be good but these 2 offers came w/n 2 weeks of each other (when it rains it pours I guess). It is not a bad problem to have really. Hopefully I will be able to run this out until late January and obtain a firm class date before that so I can tell these other people that I am going to Skywest w/o having to make this difficult decision. I just know in 2007 this same thing happened and some of these new hires were in the hiring pool for 3 years. The economy could tank tomorrow for all I know.

The other thing to consider is the Jet but I really had my heart set on that beautiful Brasilia with the short routes to the cool airports and a great short commute. Most likely the Jet will entail moving to Rahmaland. Which may not be so bad as I come to accept the circumstances.

So I think it is better to wait it out for Skywest as I look into the tea leaves.

If you want the Bro, you'll get it. Normally everyone wants the jet, and not many new hire vacancies are available. If you request the Bro, I'd be almost sure they'd give it to you. You'd be an anomaly.

I do want it but there could be a possible option perhaps to get a CRJ class instead of wait. Then I could transition once the seat lock is up I presume.

Sure, but it'd be pretty hard after dealing with 1st year pay to intentionally go from 36.6 to 28.xx once 2nd year pay comes around. But if you want to, there's no reason you couldn't.

If they don't give you a Bro class, just take the jet class if you get it, and upgrade to the Bro when your # comes up in a few years. This way you never take a "paycut" and you get what you're looking for..

If you transition down at SkyWest you will get a seat lock for 2 years. I thought about going from EMB CA to CRJ FO and was told about that this.

It’s 6 months to re-interview at SkyWest and we consider an applicant who still wants to come to SkyWest 6 months after being rejected in high regard. The majority of 6 month reapplies get interviews immediately and hired.
