How about mainline doing their flying rather than subcontractors held to a lower experience and safety standard?

Yeah I would rather have that.

You should then be posting on the Majors board. The mainline pilots are the ones that can change that, not regional pilots.

They can change the level of safety standards? I'm pretty sure everyone plays by the same rules. 121 is 121.

They can change the scope.

Please specify where the safety standards differ for regional vs mainline carriers. I'm sure we're all interested to see that.

Also, please provide data (accidents per mile, accidents per seat-mile, accidents per departure, etc) that show how the regionals' safety record is worse than the majors'.) You do have that data, right?

Yeah, and they ALL just changed it to allow regionals to fly up to 76-seaters. Next round of scope/pay negotiations at the majors are probably another 5 years or so away.

Ya, SkyWest has a lower safety standard than any of the legacies!

It's totally acceptable to fly stoned and drunk just to make the FFD!

You wouldn't believe the shortcuts we do just because the rules don't apply to us!

In fact just the other day I landed on a taxi way, but thought "no big deal, I'm just a regional pilot".

Thanks!
Correct. In fact, I just had to go on their website to apply, even though I had already interviewed and been hired (using the airlineapps process). Click on Careers, SkyWest Job Openings, and scroll down to find the FO job, then click on Open.

Good luck

I have no idea how Skywest (or any other regional) operates, so I won't comment about Skywest's level of safety compared to the legacies. But I came to my legacy from a national carrier, and the training and operating practices aren't even close to the same. 121 is a baseline - that's it.

At least that's how it was between my two 121 experiences.

We would all rather have that. You're preaching to the choir.
