At first this seems ludicrous but at the end of the day, this is where the pro Union guys like Nevets et al are right...Sapa has no leverage. The company can do pretty much as they please. And while there may be some (or a lot) of ball twisting done by the company with Sapa, this is something I actually believe when I hear them say "what can we do"
Exactly!! The whole reason for SAPA is to give us the illusion that we have a say. If SAPA would just stand up and tell the company to pound sand, then they would have to force something on us and show their hand. Same as the E175 rate. They already had the contracts and knew what they were going to pay us. There was no negotiation. Instead, we gave up training seat locks and the ability to jumpseat and took whatever rate they had in mind. Until our pilot group understands what unity will bring us, we will just keep replaying this Groundhog day.

Instead of having the illusion of a say, why don't you guys unify and actually get a say and not have to replay Groundhog Day? What am I missing?

If I had to guess, y'ins will have to do some organizing on your own.

I've heard that there's some people up there with less than a year seniority... Is that true?

The last few times we had a vote the economics were totally different. The "don't rock the boat" camp has seen the light. This is the best time in the last 15!years to have this vote.

It's true for SEA, not PDX. The most junior in PDX is still around 2 years but PDX is smaller.

The way things are moving everywhere right now hardly anything is really senior for FOs. There are <1 year pilots everywhere except PDX, PHX and PSP

With the way the majors are hiring anyone who is willing to work hard and campaign and organize a vote today will be gone before they can really make a difference. The lifers who don't want a union will remain.

I actually think now is a worse time for it than it has been in the past due to the high turnover. When everything was stagnated the people who were really pro-union were forced to stick around and fight for it. Today they're all either gone already or well on their way to leaving.

Negative. PDX is down to 10 months and falling.
