Thanks for that. Basically I am trying to see if there is any way to fit in 4/5 days off to go to my brother's wedding in Australia on 10/29.

If I did CTP 9/11-17, I could then do Ground School from 10/3-10/27 and hopefully fly out that afternoon (10/27) and make it in time, coming straight back on 10/30.

What are my chances of having 4 days off straight after ground school before starting sim?

Thank you again!

Depends totally on your seniority within your class. High seniority and you have a good chance of getting a break.

Totally depends on:

1) In-class seniority (determined by your SSN#)
2) Whether the sims are full or not

Some guys in my class had to start sims the day after ground ended. I got 7 weeks off. It's utterly impossible to predict.

Ok, I don't have a SSN yet so can't tell if it's high or low. Thanks everyone, hopefully I can sort it out and start asap, really looking forward to this new chapter

I'm Australian so it doesn't cost SkyWest anything for my visa. I have flown around the world and have a few thousand hours

They're going to be dramatically increasing the ORD AA flying. Back earlier in late spring/early summer we had one month of AA -700 flying. They were really awesome pairings too. SLC locals (6+ hrs), MSY, FAR, ALB, FWA overnights. There were a bunch of 26-30 hour 4 days. And 6+ hour stand-ups. All very efficient, and good paying trips.

If you need time off for a big life event you can talk to your instructors about who to email to try to work it out JW or the ladies in the office will try to help you if they can. SIMS are kind of backed up so you should have some flexible options for bidding something that can work for you. Talk to your classmates and explain the situation. If those senior to you are flexible and not turds they can help you out. You bid live in order in class from top to bottom. Best of luck.
