There are a lot of captain CRJ->EMB transitions coming off freeze-date next month. Is this the catylist that pushes the EMB fleet senior?
Or do you believe deliveries will keep things equal-ish between the fleet?

Depends. First if the company will start to honor seniority with transitions. I think we have enough flying coming up, but there is a reason we 30% reserve coverage for all the 175 domiciles. They want to be able to deliver as this flying comes online. They keep making promises of the next class to all the people who are bypassed, but unless there is a draw down of CRJ flying at the same time we add the 175 flying, they won't have enough staff. I feel that the reason for the bypasses is all the CRJ flying they are picking up out of DTW. That is making them short staffed on the CRJ and so they are blocking the transitions to keep the CRJ staffed.

I personally feel that most people are waiting to hear what happens with Delta and where those bases will be. Also what will happen with flight bennys on Delta once the 175's for them come online. The jumpseat issue for the 175 pilots was a CF of epic proportions and I think most are waiting to see what happens there. The only CA that are on the west coast that are taking the 175 transition right now are those that are looking to get a training event to GTFO of here. Once those that are looking to stick around see where the 175's end up, you will probably see those guys start to transition. JMO

ERJ guy are getting an easy taste of the good life, once the transitions start and they start moving backwards, the tune will change from the "happy dance" to the "woe is me" wailing as the get shoved into the reserve grinder. As the senior guys start taking "
Platinum Days" those 0400 calls will start making a little pee escape from the violent contractions when the special ringtone sounds.

What good life? 87% reserve coverage in ORD means 0 flying for the last 2 months. A 4am call would be welcome right about now

Given that you're one of the most senior ERJ CA's at SKW, that's kind of an ironic comment...

I'll trade you that for my 90+ hour schedule this month. And last month, and next month...

Kinda like how commuters would love OBR vs paying for a crashpad. Something as simple as an OBR call first that would be a QOL improvement that just can't be done right now.

A couple months flying CRJ lines will leave you wanting the -175 back.

3 years on reserve, qualifies me to make that comment. For the record, I wouldn't wish that special slice of life on Jared Fogel.
