So.. After looking at the sapa fourm, there are 8 pilots that have complained and found a problem.. Thats 8 out of 3840. Doubt that constitutes a pbs debacle... And sorry for the grammer. I usualy have kids jumping on me while i type. Want to stay involved in this forum but family comes first... Hence the typing errors..

I have a debacle, granted I've only had a few months of bidding but still being in 70% I should be able to get something I want besides all CN. I talked to PBS helpline today and they said that pbs attempted to schedule me several 95 hours (which I want) and 4 day trips (which I want) but because I have 1 day that carries in on the 1st of April it screwed the bid and couldn't assign me the things I wanted during the first half. So my first half of the month is CN not giving me a single day I wanted off. Have to wait till the 24th till its on skedplus to start wheeling and dealing with other people or swapping open time trips with ones I've been assigned within CN to at least get 2 weekdays off that I wanted.
On the reason report does it say the pairings you want were replaced do to line constraints?
What did you have selected for days off between work blocks?
Did you waive the 28 in 7? Or max duty days?
In the reason report what was the minimum line value for your line? What did you bid for? (credit range)
What days did you bid off? (If it was for the final four forget about it.)
The answer to the first question I asked is very important.
Some other things to consider. Bidding 70% with a bunch of low paying pairings makes it real hard to get 95 hours with 19 work days(or whatever the max is they can schedule us for).

Perhaps you are being too restrictive in your bid. I'm guessing since you've been with the company less than 6 months and this is your first airline that you don't have a lot of experience with programs such as this or bidding in general.

I have not posted once on the SAPA forums. Since we don't have a contract, we are at will employees and we have managers that look at the forum daily, I don't want the hassle of putting anything out there. On the old SAPA site, you could see when the last time an employee had logged into the site. Trust me there are a ton of lurkers out there and use the forums for communication. Where else would we get it? From our SAPA meeting notes?
PBS screws up each month and our seniority is violated. Anytime a pairing is replaced and given junior, your seniority is violated. Not everyone can have Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving off, but someone should be able to bid some days off for a family event and get those weekdays off. And if they don't, they should have the ability to trade trips through some time of schedule improvement tool. When you can't even trade a trip because everyone is maxed out on hours and days, then there is an issue and it is happening to more than just the "80" that post on the SAPA forums.
The vocal minority story is one that SAPA tells themselves so they don't have to worry about listening to the concerns of the pilot group. I feel bad for those that join SAPA thinking that they can help improve anything. Once inside they see how powerless our "representation" is or they get so high on the koolaid that they just think that someone is crazy for wanting to have a small measure of control over their lives.

Half or more of the time people that are complaining ends up being user error. If you get the line constraint message it means you were too restrictive etc. Don't get me wrong, Im sure its possible for software to make mistakes, however its usually human error. Someone from SAPA looks into the peoples bids when they complain most of the time they can deduce where that person went wrong.

I haven't complained in two months about my PBS bid. Globalization does need to be addressed and the vague wording of "line constraint" needs to be specified.
There, that felt great.
