That paradigm comes from a time when the majors weren't hiring, and were in fact furloughing. The company used to crow about having 4000 viable applications to chose from, now having a pulse is qualification enough. I have flown with many guys new and senior who belonged in the position, but I have also flown as of late, too many who did not. The pool is dry, the funny thing is,the very things that would attract more people into the job, money and QOL are the very things they are cutting. After first year, second year is the same as 10 years ago when the 4000 choices were available. Can't fix stupid.
BTW, the people boarding my plane(in a specific paint scheme), bought their tickets on mainline.com and are reading mainline magazine from the seat back pocket, they boarded a mainline jetbridge, by mainline gate agents and the ticket counter was staffed by mainline employees, the planes are catered by companies contracted to serve mainline food and beverages. We aren't mainline in pay, workrules and employer(who contracts with mainline). So I will beg to differ on the mainline status from a practical point.

That is the beauty of the model. We deliver a mainline product but my W2 is clearly not mainline.
We are the outsourced workbench and mainline would outsource even more if they could. This is no different than what Foxconn is for Apple - contract manufacturing .... we buy the image and brand of an iphone but it is delivered by outsourced labor. Just like your UA/DL/AA/AS flight (and ticket, and experience, etc. ) operated by xxxx
I have no idea how dry the pipeline really is. But I am afraid there are a lot more tools in regional managements shed to come up with new schemes to secure a supply of folks.....

Does anyone have the updated CRJ DOH to line holder times for DTW and ORD? Trying to estimate how long reserve will be. I should finish class by the end of March.

7/25 class just became line holders and the 8/15 will be composite/line holders, but it probably will mean nothing for you because DTW will likely be a larger base with 700s/900s by the time you get there

Thanks for the info. I'm assuming that means the reserve time would go down as a result of the growing base?

The DVR shows they are bringing the total crews in dtw to 147. That would mean you'd be a line holder for the first bid qualified in base.

That's not true at all. Of the 130 something ppl on the DTW seniority list approximately only 80 bid. There are 62 guaranteed lines and 67 target lines. The DVR doesn't really help you figure out how long you will be on reserve. I did 1 month of reserve and then got a composite for January and would have gotten a line for feb. but I am transferring. Plan on doing at least 1 month of a reserve line for DTW
