^^^^^ this, and there is a distribution of stand-ups. Some very attractive - others not so much.

Pay isn't even the primary issue. But associated with the way they are being paid: low paying = very little rest - and that is where the real problem is.
Quote: Hmm, my entire month is split-duties all with credit at least 6:00. And I'm as far west as we get.
Most of my January award was standups, all crediting <= 5hrs. (I made the mistake of bidding "Allow standups", and I basically got all the standups...)

Quote: I think the point is some people love them, and some people can't deal with the minimal rest. I really wish they wouldn't CN stand-ups to the latter.
I will agree with you on that. Although on the other hand, I find 20-leg 4 days WAY more fatiguing than even the lousiest standups. And getting a 4-day CN'd gives me the same feeling of sick horror I just had [EDITED FOR TOS]
I dont particularly like standups.. will do them now and again for JRM pay. I see the value of having them.. they make longer pairings more efficient. Pilot Mom's with kids love them, senior FO's with side businesses love them.. jr caltains commuting to DTW don't...

One thing a lot of people don't realize is that standups make locals and 2-days possible. Without them we'd see a lot less pairing diversity...

This is true. Somebody has to work the last flight to the outstation, and the first flight back to the hub.

That means either one standup crew or two RON crews.
so you choose the cheap way.
Just don't get used to them and do it for too long or you'll turn into that weird subculture crowd that rolls in around 9PM looking tired and pasty wearing a trench coat with who knows what underneath.
Some of the stand-up crews I could see fitting in well with the previous part 135 night cargo ops that I've worked at...haha.
Any advice for logbook conversion to digital?
And which digital logbook service to stick with after that?

It'd be nice to be able to scan and send it instead of mailing off my life's journal.
Thanks!
