What would be a reasonable expectation about how much a new hire FO will make the first and second year? Are there any retention bonuses after the first year? Do they still have a 7500 for prior 121 / jet type > 12,500? A ballpark number for the first and second year will be greatly appreciated.
Quote: About 20% of my class are people coming from outside the US.
You can get most bases with enough time, but it might take a few months.

I haven't heard about another US regional that is better (or I wouldn't be here). Why are you considering the US, and where are you trying to be based?
What is the process for this? I have a friend who is qualified but is from the U.K. And did all his flight training here in the U.S.
Quote: Hi.

I just got an email from Skywest recruiting saying they would assist with a visa, I'm not from the US.

Just wondering if you guys like it?

I have a bit of money saved up but would be taking a major pay cut from my current 210 job. is it viable to be able to establish oneself in any of the bases off the Skywest pay?
DTW and MSP are low cost areas. These bases have lower-cost areas within a reasonable drive: SLC, DEN, COS, PHX, TUS. PSP and FAT too, but low cost in CA is a relative term.
Quote: Not really. At one point there was an 8 month pool from interview to class. App is in FWIW. Times are different now though with everyone looking for qualified candidates.
I have a friend who interviewed in December and was off to ATP CTP in January. He left for training on Feb 24th for CRJ. I guess his class is going to DTW
I finished my 200 line check on 7th March and got a composite line for April in ORD in the CRJ.

I'm also from Australia and happy to help guide anyone through the process to get here, just PM me.

The pay is enough to support my wife and I, including multiple trips overseas and around USA. SkyWest has been great so far and I don't see that changing.

They should contact pilot recruiting. They will review their background and discuss the process. Obviously, they have to come here under a US Visa.

Out of curiosity, did Skywest recruit you and sponsor an E-3 Visa?

Yes they did, an E3 visa (Australian citizens only) costs SkyWest nothing whereas citizens of other countries I've heard is around $14,000 to sponsor hence why most US airlines say they will not sponsor anyone.

What are the rules around E3 visa? I assume it is employer specific and not transferable? Nice little forced retention model.

Not really forced retention as long as another airline will apply for a Visa or sponsor an employer based green card.
