Don't forget that other airlines also don't advertise their more senior upgrade times.
Regardless of the airline, if you aren't at a junior base and you want the first upgrade, you'll have to transfer to a junior base. That isn't unique to Skywest.

What I'm pointing out is people that are dismissing other airlines because "commute to East coast"

I'd rather be a Sr fo at whiskey making 80k with bonuses than a jr Capt at Skywest commuting to 11 off in dtw

Depends on you where you live. Going to one of AWACs bases could mean adding a leg to your commute, which could mean a few wasted days in hotels each month getting burned on missed commutes. Every situation is unique for each person though of course.
Also, did you look at the details of their compensation? Not as impressive when you see they are counting 401k match (not 100% vested to start), insurance, and per diem. They are also assuming you will refer a pilot there and that you will upgrade in 18-24 months. Pay is also calculated at more than monthly guarantee X 12. While we know hours are and probably will be available, AWAC certainly inflated every possible number for recruitment.
A lot of assumptions there.

Agreed. But let's not act like the compensation is high or "industry leading" at Skywest. Especially qol.

We have 25-30 FO's in the bucket now. Probably be 35ish once everyone is off IOE. All that information was based off FO's. Idk why a new hire would care about captain numbers. DTW has like 290 FO's to the 220 Captains or something too.

I'm sure those reserves will only go up from here by August when those 200s are taken offline.

No you're right about that. I would say Skywest pay is definitely getting topped by other regionals right now, but our contract is also older. I for one couldn't be happier that we are falling behind on pay, it will no doubt show in the hiring department soon enough which will give us more ammunition in contract negotiations.
As far as QOL I think we don't do too bad at Skywest. There are some areas that could of course see improvement (reserve rules), but overall I am pretty happy with the QOL.

Oh and the reserve additions you speak of we all are waiting to see. It was set in stone before TG took over.
Then he decided he wasn't going to honor any agreement that SL and Sapa signed. Including release into rest for standups.

A new hire probably won't care about CA reserves, but that doesn't mean it won't affect them. They just don't know it yet.
CA reserves are short company wide.

Which is good, right? Why not just wait a little while to upgrade and avoid reserve since it's so short? But yeah almost anytime I get called my captains (on reserve) are breaking guarantee with all sorts of trips on their schedule. I feel like a kid on Christmas when I get called to fly in ORD now lol. Maybe I just have bad luck though.
