Going to the very people who destroyed your company, your job and your life for no purpose other than to make an example out of unions, is not an emotional decision

I support xjt/asa pilots in their decision to not come here.

Why the heck would anyone go to a regional that happened to destroy YOUR regional (XJT) when they could go to Spirit, Frontier, Allegiant, JetBlue, Atlas or another legacy carrier or good 135s like JetSuite, NetJets, etc? The whole soft landings thing is yet another example how out of the loop those who settle our fate are, and obviously they have no idea how pilots think (and how arrogant they are to reckon that everyone wants to work here).

How "real" is the rumored DAL 175 base?

I don't think so. The top is probably still air Wisconsin. Skywest is in the middle. Keep in mind that total compensation includes your sick and vacation accrual, the percentage of premiums you pay for medical/dental/vision/LTD (and the details of each policy), 401k matching (is it a 100% match?), defined contribution plan, etc. All these things air Wisconsin is at the top of the industry that Skywest doesn't have.

SKW has historically operated in the sweet spot between mesa and comair.

Don't like it? Get out.

If it was pointless, then you would be getting paid the same hourly rate for the 200 that was paid in 1992. You keep trying to make this point when compensation has gone up without your company getting comaired. In reality, no one argues that Skywest doesn't increase compensation over time, only that considering their financial strength in the industry, you should be at least $1 more than the top regional, which Skywest isn't.

By the way, if your negotiators were more forward thinking, they would use the leverage CFIs have in order to benefit the entire pilot group as a whole instead of repeatedly giving away management's ability to arbitrarily give away first year pay raises without having to come back to the table.

Life for me is fine. But I'm only one out of thousands so it depends on one's personal financial situation and seniority.

To answer your other question, xjt had 274 airplanes before Skywest renegotiated the money losing cpa and bought xjt. Neither of those things have anything to do with unions. In fact, they supposedly finally, after 9 years, negotiated a profitable 5 year cpa. And that had nothing to do with unions either. We are more expensive now than we were when they negotiated the previous money losing cpa.

In other words, correlation does not always equate to causation. The simple fact is that management made bad decisions and they made a conscious decision to shield one set of their employees while not the other set of their employees. That writing has been on the wall for 7 years. Which is why I'm actively trying to get out. Either way, I'll be fine. Not sure about everyone else.

I didn't mention anything about unions in my post. I just made the point that there is a lot more to compensation than pay rates and there is a lot more to QOL than days off. Those QOL of life and compensation are NOT small things! If that is the predominant feeling there, then there is no hope for real QOL. Also, read my reply above. Just because an airline is union doesn't mean that it is doomed. Many non-union airlines have gone under and many union airlines have been successful. Simply logic dictates that unions are not the reason for airline success.

I'm sure there will be a handful.

[emoji782] and I'm not including the ones that have to do IOE.

Why don't you call CS and asked them to give you the trip that is supposed to belong to you?

Jonneaux 09-26-2017 02:15 PM

That was a lot of typing, must be on a long layover.

Air Whiskey? All CRJ 200. My latest PPS check amounted to about another $8.80 before taxes which would put me about $15/hr ahead of someone of comparable seniority over there. They do have good trip and duty rigs.

Way back, ExpressJet had it good. SkyWest conspired with Continental to undermine them. OO Home office stabbed you guys in the back, front, side and up the corn hole. That was way before they bought you. The irony being that they bought the horrible contract that they forced on you. I don't blame you one bit for holding a grudge. I would too. I think you are wise to get out, I think SGU is tired of running multiple airlines in parallel and is slowly winding you down.

amcnd 09-26-2017 03:56 PM

Air Wisconsin ha always been awesome.. im scared they are only operating Old CRJ200’s. And privately owned. Will the owner want to shell out $35mill each for new airplanes?? How do you attach pay to not commuting... so much more then just a paycheck...

I have to laugh at comments like this. What? Is it too hard for you to read a well thought out narrative? Do you prefer to read the 2 paragraph summary of a 450 page book too?

Sometimes it takes more than 50 words to make some good points.
