Perfect example of the results you get when you ratify "duplex strategery"!

From the outside looking in...what’s the down side of being on reserve if you live in base?

Less flexibility. Can’t trade reserve days with the company to move them around.

Can only trade with other pilots - assuming you find someone who is willing to trade.

If you can get the days off you want rsv in base is great. Usually end up with 3+ days unused and if they mess with you the pay is good without having to play the open time game. And not messing with elitt is like quitting your second job. Lol

This month on reserve I will credit 126. I flew 6 of 16 days of reserve, and picked up two turns on days off. Three nights away from home.

Which is incredible for a summer month. The secret is out...

In addition to what is already mentioned, very few reserve lines have weekends off. Often a bid will have zero pure weekday reserve lines.

I do a lot of SJU turns out of MCO, as they pay OK, are (usually) really easy flying and no customs etc.

They're also really easy to give away, especially weekdays.

I've BTDT in previous lives. You can have it.

Ding ding ding.
Be sure to prominently display the flag tie after one wheel goes in the dirt and you are marched into the prison by the federales in a nation that is having a strained relationship with Washington DC these days.

The lack of international training is.......
