I can guarantee you less than 10 percent of us paid any heed to anything etops related in that contract. It should be an interesting ride.
One thing I can see happening quickly is LAX becoming the junior upgrade base. I think when the dust finally settles there are going to be a lot more guys bypassing and a very junior captain cadre out west.

So 9.5 years instead of 10?

Wait... where do you come up with 9.5 instead of 10? Surely you meant 12 instead of 20.

Since this thread is originally about Orlando, no. Nobody upgrades in Orlando. They upgrade somewhere else and move to Orlando right before they retire and get a nice place in the villages.

Touché. I think with the numbers I am seeing, the time to upgrade is going to decline pretty steadily here in the next few years. Right now, the AirTran guys are the lump in the upgrade snake. Plenty of them will bypass for various reasons. Once we get past that lump, take a look at the seniority numbers. Not many guys hired between 2008-2013. Of course, previous bypassers will upgrade in the fall after vacation bids so there is that too.

Quick couple questions about the MCO base vs. BWI base:
Trip mix: which base has a better mix of commutability/productivity?
Commutability: Living in PHL area, is it easier to drive to BWI (2hr drive)or commuter to MCO?
Is it worth to commute (con) to MCO with better trips (pro) or drive to BWI knowing my ride is always there (pro) but have early shows and late finishes and deal with ZDC being a pain with EDCTs (con).

I live somewhere where I can drive 2.5 hours to work OR commute on one flight to three different bases (although one options requires the DFW-DAL train ride). 100%....drive. The great thing about driving is that you don't waste any time, you go right from finishing a trip into heading home. Often times I'm home before the other guy or girl has boarded his commute.

Once you get some seniority you can manipulate the schedule into something that reduces the driving, or try to get rid of the early shows / late finishes.

Easily BWI. You’ll get seniority faster in BWI. 2 hours away and your right on the edge of being able to sit Reserve at home. BWI will have a wider range of trips as well.

I wouldn't even consider MCO living in Philly. BWI and MDW - (closer then MCO) are our 2 biggest bases. They both are junior and have good variety of trips. No brainer!
