Just to clarify:
2 rounds of bidding
1st: 4th-9th - results are posted on the 9th in the afternoon, schedules are loaded on the 11th.
2nd: 17th-19th - results come out on the 19th in the afternoon, schedules loaded on 21st.
ELITT (line improvement) opens on 25th at different times for different bases.

And what is the difference between the 1st and 2nd bid?

Our guys 2nd year rate is $144.35. if they fly their line, no changes, with vacation, and training they would earn appr. between $152k-156k plus $600-1000k in domestic/intnl per diem monthly.. roughly 8-14 landings a month, between 14-17 days off a month.

What’s truly priceless is not having to cash in your 401k, shack up with mom and dad, not even thinking about public assistance just because you’re starting a supposedly your final job. An icing on the cake being able to make 100k+ your first year... but that’s another story altogether.
When are you gonna stop with this trolling BS?

The bid for the proceeding month closes on the 9th of every month. So that afternoon/evening is when when you 'know' your schedule the following month and what you're working with. After that, you can start manipulating your awarded line on the 11th via trip trade giveaway, commonly known here as 'TTGA'. Basically it is a peer based trade and give for what you were awarded. You can advertise to give away or trade whole or portions of your awarded pairings or peruse what's available for trade or giveaway. (This is available until report time for said pairing). Then on the 25th, ELITT opens up, which is a trading system with the company for unassigned trips that usually stem from vacation, military drops etc.. It's a feeding frenzy the first hour or so when it opens, but this is where junior guys can vastly improve their schedule. Clear as mud?

Every pilot bids in the first round. There are generally 3 different kids of lines: regular (consisting of normal pairings - 1,2,3, or 4 day), reserve (all 3, or 4 day blocks of reserve), and blank lines. If you get a regular or reserve line, you know your schedule on the 9th of the month for the following month. If you get one of the blank lines, you participate in the 2nd round. The second round is much smaller and the lines are constructed from whatever was dropped due to conflicts after the first round was awarded. Most of the lines consist of regular pairings, but there may be reserve blocks mixed in. If you participate in the 2nd round, you'll know your schedule for the next month on the 19th of the preceding month. It all makes more sense after you bid once or twice. It's a pretty good system with a lot of flexibility.
