I think this thing will morph.

My personal opinion - this may result in a couple of flights, but I highly doubt cargo charters in a pax 737 will become a "thing".

The company put out a memo months ago on this. It will pay charter rates and go straight into open time to be bid on.
while depending on how many of these are it will go extremely senior. Probably only top 10% will get it. Now that will mean more 4.5tfp 3 days we can bid straight for but I dont think this will trickle very far.
I think we should get something for this, obviously it's good for both of us so it should be easy to negotiate on.
personally I'd like to see a whole subset of cargo flying we could bid for. Take our retiring aircraft and make them cargo birds and fly hundreds of them.

I do not think it will go as senior as you think. Also this is all new, if it works out it may work out the way you are wanting. I am kind of thinking like e6, this will not much flying at all . I am hoping I am wrong and you are correct .

The Cap applies to Charters correct?

They might not go that Senior depending on the productivity/duty day

Pretty sure it's just like regular OT and caps apply.

I do not wish for any company to fail but I do think that SWA may very well become the point of reference for future contracts and management styles elsewhere. Feel free to disagree)
First of all, all the legacies (including SWA) contracts are within spitting distance of each other as far as compensation from a pilots perspective. I can show you pilots at all the airlines in the right base/category that are killing it, and others that are successfully avoiding work. If SWAPA's contract remains full strength and becomes the model for future contracts, little will change with pilot compensation. Pensions are already gone, most contracts allow pilots to work to FAR max's already, so not much left to give up in the QOL area, just a smacking of pay rates/vacation/training pay etc.

As far as comparing Delta to Pan Am, couldn't disagree more with your assessment. Different time, different regulatory environment, different structure. Most analysts agree (read the book Hard Landings to understand pre-deregulation era airline business) that Pan Am died when it had no control over domestic feed and had to rely on others to get people from their non-hub locations to fill their global airline. Huge 747's flying all over the world had to be fed by a plethora of other airlines who obviously prioritized their own clientele first when filling seats.

The previous post was responding to the user "NOCONCESSIONS" (ostensibly from SWA) who said "SWA is going to beat the BIG 3 to a pulp." and I was offering reasons why that actually isn't fully in SWAPA's best interest (as a pilot laborer). Maybe for corporate ego, profits, and market share, but as far as pilot compensation, would be a drag for some time to come.

Best of luck to us all.

The cap goes for everything. Once over the CAP , your last in line, even to someone bidding out of base

I believe in domicile trumps an out of domicile bid regardless of the Cap.
