Hmm. My honest apology for being wrong.

No "Koolaide" required. Everyone thinks that. Especially those in charge at the Big 3.

I’ve mentioned this before in another thread in the SWA sub forum. Some of the folks in the SWA thread are gloating over the fact that their competitors, the “Big 3”, are going to have a very difficult time over the next few years. There are tens of thousands of your fellow aviators over at the Big 3 who may/will be devastated by this. To gloat over that fact is absolutely classless.

That’s virtue signaling plain and simple. One can be both saddened that the industry is taking it unlubricated in the keister while being hopeful that their company takes advantage of the situation moving forward. The ruined careers and upset lives stink. No way around it. Feel free to donate liberally to efforts to support your fellow pilots. I assure you that SWA’s C suite, and perhaps those of a few others have aggressive plans on simmer dependent on how this shakes out.

Are you kidding me?! virtue signaling on my part? Dude. Has no one ever taught you the concept of keeping it classy? It sure doesn’t seem so.

people used to talk about the perceived arrogance of the Sky Nazi AA pilots, but I guess a few here want to claim that honor.

There’s those types at every airline. Too many people base their self worth on the company that pays them, and if the outlook were reversed you’d see people throwing stones the other way. The vast majority of us are worried about the whole industry and realize we are also in jeopardy.

Yes, virtue signaling, and you’re doing it again with the classy nonsense. I, like everyone else, have lifelong friends and acquaintances who are likely to be on the street in 5 months. It flat sucks. They will find a helping hand from me supposing I’m in a position to help.

There’s going to be winners and losers in this. And quite a few of the losers are going to be guys and gals who looked like they had the world by its very own tail just a few months ago. But this isn’t an everybody wins type thing. So I see no problem with people hoping that one’s own company positions itself well to come out stronger when this is over. Several won’t. Mine could certainly go either way.

I’m not saying to throw it in other pilot/pilot group faces or to talk trash to them on the jump seat or forum for that matter. Do you think most don’t realize that the deck chairs are likely to get shuffled a bit at the end of this?

If picking some arbitrary point in our circuit around the sun to talk about plans moving forward makes you feel better then have at it. I don’t need that crutch, because it’s possible to entertain multiple ideas at once. Every management group is in survival mode right now. A very few are also thinking aggressively about what comes next because of their cash position.

Or or are you going to lobby SWA to not take more gates, in Denver for example, in hopes that United keeps more people employed? I doubt very much GK will be reining things in so that competitors can compete again when the dust settles.

I’m all too aware that my job isn’t safe. But I’m also hoping that we snag some market share etc if we pull through this.

Two ideas that are completely compatible.
