Oh bologna. There is ALWAYS going to be the 8-10 percent that bypass upgrade.

This is “mostly” a destination airline and that lights an even weaker fire under senior FO’s asses to upgrade and get their PIC time.

Also, the bigger the W2’s get the less motivation for people to upgrade.

I’d pretty much count on an 8% bypass ratio.

As it should be. It shouldn’t cost less to fly than drive. Let’s keep things in perspective.

Absolutely! All his/her cherry picked price for a flight example only tells me that the flight is close to full. Nothing new there.

This is spot on. When you’re making as much or more than a Junior Captain as a Senior FO with the QOL flexibility it provides, there’s no incentive for people to trans con commute to sit reserve to have a fourth stripe on their shoulder.

I agree. I plan on bypassing until I can hold Captain within one online leg of my commuter city.

I just don't care about being a captain that much to punish myself and my family for it. The pay gap is not significant for a top ten percent FO and a junior reserve captain. I am not going to do a two leg commute to OAK or LA. The guy at the airport Burger King already calls me Cap'n anyway.

Yep. Got a 95xxx buddy who is close to being able to Lance in base. He’s been doing 150-180/mo all year. At 12 yr FO pay that’s $26-31k/mo….similar to a CA doing 106-125 tfp/mo except he gets his choice of trips, lines and vacation. I can totally see why people bypass…
