Hiring 2022
#1871
All the best to you guys and hope you get a job! I just went today for the in person, and although I’d done a virtual in August, I had to repeat the HR portion in accord with the new system, which is unfortunate because this time it was not relaxed, in spite of all expectations to the contrary, and in spite of how smoothly the virtual went, and i left feeling utterly deflated, so although it’s not official yet I have much more than a gut feeling that it’s a hard “no”. This is a word to the wise, anyone who might have already done the virtual and has yet to do the in-person please keep this in mind and leave nothing to chance, insofar as you might possibly have a bearing on the outcome of things!

Don't count yourself out yet. I had a similar feeling leaving my interview and was hired.

Sounds like how my entire interview group felt, but most of us were hired!
Not sure what the interview process is now, but the interviewers normally offer zero feedback during the process. It’s tough waiting, but have a few beers and I bet you will hear back soon!

while I appreciate the encouragement, the issue is that of all segments, the HR should be the most informal and relaxed, and if it’s not, to me that’s a prime indicator ….the pilot part of the duo seemed to be eyeing me distrustfully, like the “bad cop”, and appeared, at best stoic, at worst disdainful, other than the courtesy shown while escorting me upstairs and back down……just felt damning

I had the same experience during the HR virtual interview. The pilot was a douche. He made sure to let me know he would be calling all the companies I worked at to make sure I wasn't lying. I figured I wouldn't get any further but I got the email the next morning inviting me to Dallas. It left such a bad taste that I didn't pursue it any further and went to another airline. I never had anyone question my integrity like that before. Sure enough I started getting phone calls that week from friends I had listed telling me about SWA calling them and asking in depth questions about my life. I guess that is just the process. I am sure you will get hired and find out the pilot group is not like that.

well again thanks for the encouragement, but this happened to me in Dallas during the in person, so it’s the last “gate”, definitive in their decision-making process, and even though I’d completed the virtual earlier with flying colors, the timing was horrible because of the transition in method, so essentially my good performance earlier on was tossed out of court as irrelevant……...more or less in the words of Red from The Shawshank Redemption, “[false hope can be a dangerous thing]”, so I’m mentally shifting gears and moving on….
