Real soon probably. Openings often coincide with job expos, and there is one coming up that Southwest is sponsoring in two weeks.

Sounds good thanks! I should have my unrestricted ATP by that time!

I did one at WIA22. SWA was the most organized of any company there. Very well run booth. They had staff mixing and talking with you while waiting in line, chit chatting and putting you at ease. My app was published, both on PC and on the ICIMS once the window opened the morning of the first day of the conference. After waiting in a pretty long line, an HR rep will check you in at the booth and check that your apps are published. You will then be introduced to an FO/CA who will have you log into PC on their iPad. They’ll then open the .pdf version of your app and scroll through it.

The conversation was very light. Interview style “tell me about yourself” and then chit chat about where I’ve lived, bases, etc. Very pleasant and I felt I made a genuine connection. A buddy of mine at the same conference got asked “Why SWA.” I did this at about 4pm and got an invite for virtual interview at like 630pm. I did the virtual a few days later, the in person a week or so after that, and start this month!

bottom line: go with all your apps published, polished resume, and some interview prep done. You’ll enjoy it!

I'll concur with that. They had the most people to talk to at NGPA 2020, which made their line less discouraging to wait for by comparison to the other bigs. Guessing since they're hosting PAPA next weekend in Vegas it'll be even more efficient, so I'd recommend planning on prioritizing another big if you have multiple desires first and trust SWA guys will get to you after the initial rush.

If anything, be nothing but positive. Be pleasant, patient, and collected. They will be paying attention to your behavior when you are just waiting in the group. Don’t worry so much about technical stuff—if you meet the minimums you should already have that knowledge. What they are really digging for is who you are and if you can’t give them a snapshot of that it will definitely hinder the process. Just be cool!

August vacancy - new hires went to bwi, las, lax, oak. Looks like a few months to get Phx. Hard to tell.

How’s seniority decided by class? Age? What’s the average age in a class these days? What base do you do IOE from?
