Yeah I think it's more of a gate restriction issue. Our 800s have excellent short field performance. BUR has a lot of gates that are 700 only, but their new terminal is under construction. Every other airport is mostly any plane any gate with a few exceptions.

From: DOWNGRADE COMPLETE: Thanks Gary. Thanks SWAPA.
As soon as I got a 135 ID (Caravan night cargo), I immediately went out and jumpseated around for a day. Four legs in “airliner” cockpits including a USAir -400. Damn that was exciting. Like seeing your first set of t!ts live and in the flesh, or driving a Miata for the first time.

I’m not a subscriber so couldn’t read the article. Maybe somebody else has access and can fill us in if anything is interesting.

Ortberg traveled to Rolls Royce and they are claiming to be able to produce an engine with a 20 percent advantage over the 320 NEO. With airframe advances, could be over 30 percent.
Lots of fluff about keeping under wraps because they are concentrating on certifying and producing current catalog of planes.

Cut the claims in half and double the production time and that will be where it lands. I will never fly it, but I am glad they are at least working on it.

I think they are, which is why this is being kept under wraps and had to be reported by WSJ. A CEO would be horribly negligent if they weren't concerned with the future of the company, though. The narrow body airplane produced by Boeing will be the commercial (and mil variant) cash cow for decades. It needs to be done 10 years ago.
