Quote: Um, yeah, my time is precious to me, so measuring how much I give away for a dollar seems pretty logical. I also highly doubt your claim that you made $250k with a mixture of year one and two pay in 2023. Alas, it’s no sweat off my back, carry on.
I work weekday 3 day lines, haven’t had a line over the weekend in over a year. I avoid 4 days, we don’t have 5 days and my total compensation (pay, per diem, NEC) was 248k so I guess not quite 30k. Seems like it is a little “sweat off your back” since you’re over here justifying your choice and calling others dumb for not staying at AA. I’m happy for you though, maybe you’ll be the first generation of AA pilots that doesn’t experience displacements, furloughs, bankruptcy or a crappy merger/acquisition.

Quote: Cool story. I’m in the left seat now, so no, you won’t. I also highly doubt you out earned me on a $/TAFB basis. Congratulations, you worked more.
Alright. I’m a CA….let’s compare. I’ll even use your longevity step for pay comparison if you want since I’m at yr 9 pay.

What’s your block and credit for Feb?

Quote: You do realize that you're doing a huge disservice to American Airlines pilot group, don't you? If you are the indicator of the collective personality there, spending decades of one's career surrounded by the likes of you, even if it involves a much quicker upgrade, seems downright repulsive.
Theres a reason I never applied to AA….

Lax can go jump off a short pier. I blocked him awhile ago…only see his posts when people quote him. Same with stool sample.

Quote: Not absurd at all. The “culture” rolls downhill. We trained at the same building, did the same medical, hell I flew the KC-135 for the sim ride like they all did too. The TWA merger caused so much heartburn it flowed back down to Eagle. Sure, AA was way better. But being where we were with the perpetual carrot on a stick flow-through and unfortunate lost decade—sorry. AMR **** the bed for me.
It is absurd. You’re comparing your experience from 17-24 years ago with AMR during the lost decade which included major events that will be read by our children in history class (9/11, Financial crisis).

The culture of negativity you described from
20 years ago does not exists at AAL today. I’ve experienced nothing close to what you’ve described.

The best part of this thread is we haven’t even discussed the fact SWA is projected to have little if any growth for the next few years thanks to the Max 7 debacle. The OP will be stuck on the bottom of the seniority list for years while the Big 3 continue to grow and take SWA market share. The LCC model is finished.

My long term prediction for SWA will be forever seniority stagnation as a result from a failing LCC business model. Then in a decade or two you’ll be acquired by one of the Big 3 and stapled to the bottom like TWA.

Southwest isn’t really a true LCC like Spirit or Frontier. We do equal or more domestic flights compared the big 3 depending on which metric you use. We are the most frequent carrier at something like 70% of the airports we fly to. Southwest has a very loyal customer base. I live in a huge WN/UA hub and almost all of the people I know, regardless of income or age, prefer to travel WN. The legacies have their niche as does Southwest.

I would bet your bedroom is covered in AA memorabilia. I know, you don’t work at AA.

You’re a midwit so I take your prediction with a very small grain of salt.
