burger king is becoming shake shack like already mentioned.
Pizza kitchen was supposed to be pickupstix (Asian fast casual). The airport director said pei wei during the meeting Wednesday so I'm not sure if she misspoke or it changed.
Starbucks is getting enlarged
pasta house/schlafly is becoming a peacemaker lobster and crab...... Please eat it before you board.
They also said some pizza oven is coming over from Italy and should be in use in a week or two. I think that had to do with Crushed red, which at this point is just a kiosk so I'm not sure how the pizza fits in.
Chilis in T1/C concourse is becoming a nascar themed restaurant... odd move in my opinion but maybe they will have tallboys of Busch light.
one other non restaurant thing I forgot to mention. The director said the airlines wanted D reopened sooner than later and that it would happen regardless of if there was a new terminal or not. That part to me made it sound like Southwest wants more gates. Otherwise I don't know why it would have to happen if there was no new terminal. I'd heard previously if they opened another bank of gates that they would open up the rest of D so you can walk thru to C

So back in early 2010 the idiotic airport authority decided they were going to raise landing fees..because what are the airlines gonna do about it? Apparently they didn’t learn from PIT or CVG…
So AA said, “we’re not paying that”. STL said, “you will or you can leave”. AA said, “f$&@ you, we’re out”. I guess STL thought they were bluffing because after the AA press release was dropped announcing the massive reduction in service, STL went groveling back begging to keep service in exchange for a guaranteed landing fee rate. AA said, “we told you no, you said leave, so we did”.
So AA moved the majority of AA connection service to ORD and started bleeding down the TWA base. STL went to STL and offered a deal on landing fees if we increased service to cover some of the lost AA feed (ICT, MSP, MKE, TUL, etc). SWA agreed and the station grew like crazy.
Overcharging companies is what’s leading to the exodus from blue to red states. Then the local/state govt is in a pickle due to decreased revenue. They can either double down and hope others don’t leave or suck up their mistake and lower prices.

Economics will always win. St Louis used to house a huge manufacturing economy and was a solid middle class town full of people who had the means to buy a house, raise a family, and take a vacation every year. They lost that and the airport lost their hub airline at the same time. SWA needs STL and vice versa. I doubt they care what political flavor the politician with their hand out is backing.

You had me until you started making it political. The biggest and bluest state in the country is largely responsible for the existence of the company that we work for. I don't live there nor do I desire to. I am just keeping it real.

I’m just saying how things went down. AA left because it was a TWA hub they didn’t want and the increased fees gave them a reason to save $ and to solidify ORD. If they raise the fees again, you better believe we’ll move cross state to MCI. It’s not personal…it’s business.

Just stating a fact that the exodus of people and companies largely is coming from Democratic run states like NY, NJ, IL, CA to Republican run states like FL, TN, etc. Why are they leaving? Cost. If you can have a better QOL/profit margin somewhere else….why not leave?

STL isn't going to raise any fees without Southwest signing on to them at this point. Basically everything that comes up in any commision meeting that would have to do with fees is; Are the airlines on board? and mostly focused on if Southwest is on board. Nothing gets done anymore for the most part, that would have an effect on airlines, without their sign off.
Landing fees and Cost per Enplaned Passenger (CPE) for STL over the years.
Landing fee (CPE)
2015 $9.02 ($14.42)
2016 $7.95 ($11.93)
2017 $7.65 ($11.13)
2018 $6.59 ($9.36)
2019 $6.61 ($9.45)
2020 $6.56 ($11.65)
2021 $6.56 ($12.29)
2022 $5.43 ($7.92)
2023 $5.60 ($8.20)
The new one for MCI arent out yet with the new terminal but they are projected to be at least $16 for CPE

MCI just raised fees a bunch because they built a new airport. So at the moment STL is a fair bit cheaper fee wise.

It will be a Pei Wei
The pizza oven is for self serve pizza at Crushed Red. I am not sure how that is going to work.

Concourse D is reopening the back half of next year to preparation for demolition of the old concourses to start. SWA is going to pick up 2 more gates E42/44 when that happens which will put them at 19 total. Once D reopens you will be able to walk between terminals air side. So if someone isn't checking luggage you could enter and exit out of T1 instead of T2.
Below will be the layout and gate assignments while they tear down concourses A/B and build the first half of the new terminal. The Sun Country one is just a placeholder as they will use a city gate, they could end up by Delta if they are even still around, the rest of the gates have now been assigned. Gates E4-24 aren't shown. Don't pay attention to the company plane at each gate, ie a Southwest plane in a United labeled gate, I just copy and pasted planes from other gates to fill the space. D20 is currently planned to be a hardstand.
