According to the list, AUS and MCI seem the most likely. I was told by management that they don’t want another FL base due to hurricane risk. SAN would be popular but expensive. SJC is too close to OAK in my mind. AUS has a big Delta push right now and lots of room to grow. The area is going crazy and has direct flights to Europe. MCI is newly updated but has winter ops potential issues. SMF? I guess, but really?

If I were to lean into it based on the info revealed lately, I’d bet on AUS.

Saying a prayer it’s AUS, SAN or anywhere west so us displaced pilots can get back home. But wouldn’t be surprised if it’s STL/MCI.

SAN would actually save a ton of money by reducing the hundreds of hotels a night they are currently buying. It doesn’t really cost a lot to open a base. Everyone’s already working there minus new office staff and a lounge. But my money is on AUS.

Those would make the most sense, but what does that matter? Another base that gets crippled 2/3 times a year in blizzards?

I would not have guessed that AUS was our #1 non-domicile RON station. No wonder I have spent so many nights at the Doubletree...

Didn’t we just close the AUS flight attendant base? And roughly 300 flight attendants are being displaced from OAK was the latest I heard.

yea AUS and TPA were closed but that’s because they didn’t carry FA reserves at those bases so they were getting burned by sick calls etc. FA’s were tasked with getting their trips covered on their own.

FLL not TPA but everything else is correct. Flight attendant virtual basing was a failed experiment. Had zero to do with the actual operation.

I can't imagine another Texas or FL base.

My uneducated list in order of probability:
STL
MCI
SAN
AUS
TPA

I think the new CA laws make bases there cost prohibitive or I’d bet SAN too. AUS would be short sighted for the same reason they said no other bases in FL.

STL would make sense but the airport is run by jack wagon idiots. I’m guessing MCI would offer us whatever we needed and the facilities there are nice.
