New routes are interesting….

SAN-BOS daily red eye would be the only red eye not originating or terminating in a base…. Unless SAN opens as a base before then

My CP said today AUS is all but a done deal. Announcement coming soon. Said they’re exploring smaller bases in areas of high hotel costs to save $….i think that’s a stupid idea but what do I know?

AUS only continues to grow; it has a TON of space, tons of gates, CAT 3 ILS approaches that DAL and HOU do NOT have, lots of international connection options to Europe and Latin America. It has the highest RON amount of any non-base.

Yeah it would be weird having three Texas bases, but HOU and DAL are capped out, DFW and IAH are not options at the moment, so connecting passengers to AUS then flying them to where they want to go makes the most sense to me.

3 bases in 1 state all within a 45 min flight of each other…it’s stupid. They refused to open TPA or FLL because they didn’t want a hurricane to take out 2-3 bases. Thank goodness TX doesn’t ever have bad weather.

Opening multiple smaller bases to avoid paying hotel costs is what Allegiant does. Wanna commute to DSM? Go for it. I don’t.

Doesn’t solve the problem of having a braking margin of 50’ in MDW when it’s snowing and you’ve got a loaded -800. In 10 yrs here the only Cat 3 I’ve ever shot is in the sim. AUS also does nothing to help unring the displacement ****storm out west.

ok so first you said fewer bases in areas of high cost hotels was a dumb idea…and then you bring up DSM? Guessing you live close to base and you’re just more concerned with your open time game changing. Got it.
