I JS/non rev all over on everyone.
Every single time im put on a list in priority order for that airline. The CSA go through that list and assugn seats in that order.
if there is a seat they give it to me, if there is not i get the JS.
I've always had room for my bag be it in one of their closets, let's not forget out 800s have wheelchair closets that you can put your bag in, or even up in the cockpit if I have a seat in the back.
Its not that hard. I get that people want to go put their bag on but they shouldn't be shoe horned into the JS for that and then have to wait and see about a seat.

i fear that's seriously going to move their cheese.
I didn't think about that, but this is going to bring me a little joy. Thank you. I can't wait.

Honest question. Why was that a thing in the first place? At my shop (UA) we don't care who sits in the exit row as long as they are willing to help etc etc etc ...

I’ll gladly ride upfront to get another employee or their dependent on the flight…

Usually pre boards have a mobility/medical issue which would compromise exit row ability. Thats how it was explained to me anyway.

Technicality vs practicality. One of the many asinine SWA policies.

Stupidity and tradition. It's a metaphor for the current state of Southwest.

Those seats are "preferred" and are supposed to be reserved for paying customers so we took the bad seats. It's not really a thing anymore except preboarders can't take exit rows, which isn't a thing in 2 days.

With assigned seating, I imagine the number of wheelchair boarders will go down significantly, very little benefit now except maybe to roll thru security.

I think it will. I imagine a few will play the game to get early overhead bin access, but overall I think it'll drop way down because their seats won't change. That should make for quicker turns, and leave the wheelchair attendants more available for people who actually need the service.

Then again, it could be worse: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sq7V0lrXOVc
