I thought the extra sims this year were valuable because they give us a chance to do something that we rarely do….fly the airplane. It’s a little basic instrument refresher. I thought it was fine and good practice. I didn’t take it as anything but that. If anything, it reaffirmed to me that if it all goes away, I am fine. Fortunately also, the 737 makes you practice that every month or so when the autopilot kicks off or the FMC or vnav suddenly go haywire. Job security.

So when you are PF on an approach, and ask the PM to set missed approach altitude, he sets it and then points at his (or your) PFD? Or does he point at the MCP altitude window?
I think there should be no pointing at all. PM or PF sets/selects/engages anything on the MCP, announces what he did, both pilots verify on their own FMA.

Exactly. All the more reason to verbally verify the FMA. I can’t believe some of you are b!tchin’ about industry standard callouts. Ridiculous……
