I could have held it in several bids. It's an easy commute for me, but no way would I subject myself to that. It's almost to the point where anyone displaced as a CA can hold it again if not already there. It's just not going to suck there for a long time. Once hiring stops, it's going to be frozen in time and very senior.
There’s roughly 60 DEN CA’s still displaced. Only people getting in right now is on secondary vacancies. Most jr is a Dec ‘15 hire now and the soonest those guys got back was the 5th vacancy bid after they were displaced. At this rate it will literally take years to get people back as they’re not backfilling retirements and have made clear there is no intention of growing the base at all for the foreseeable future…apparently it’s cheaper to kick people out and have them overnight in their displaced base.

ATL? Early ‘24 hire is the plug. No idea how many behind her want ATL. They’re not growing it so the wait will be longer than other bases. BWI, MCO and some MDW for NH.

I know the Denver item has been beat to death. But once again a PSA to any new hires. It will most likely be a minimum of 3-4 years to old Denver as the plug. And with no growth and a very junior captain base...the upgrade will most likely be the longest in the system at 10+ years. Subject to change but the company has given zero indication of future Denver growth for the base even with the Max 7. YMMV

same. I dunno if we are long for Colorado, though. I can hold about half the left seats on the July vacancy so I may bite the bullet in the new year and suck up a commute for the cash moneys. If it sucks, I can always downgrade back to the right seat in Denver. I’m already commuting by choice, I might as well make the dirty captain money.

Might pack up the teepee and move to a coast or Tejas and strike my fortune there. I keep saying I’m done moving but it seems like my wife and I are conditioned to move about every three years or so. We get fidgety and need an excuse to purge everything and start over fresh.

Same exact scenario here. After three years anywhere, I get bored to death. With the mad inflation of real estate and the gigantic realtor con-job on America, it’s getting pretty expensive to move. Aging is making it more painful too. I think we’re gonna run out of gas somewhere and stay out of necessity.

Moved around a ton as a kid (Dad was a preacher’s kid and got itchy every 2-3 years). Been in my “RJ pilot/FO house” for almost 12 years. Looking at moving to a house on some land in the mountains away from suburbia soon. Thought about the paid move, but outside of BNA….there’s no other base that’s remotely appealing to us….and I like snowboarding too much to live in the Midwest ever again. Was putting off a move until interest rates drop and the market get better but might have to just suck it up and get it done.

Denver won’t see a single vacancy until the current (insert derogatory term for incompetent) is gone.

Then you will see “growth driven by shifting operational needs”

Translation: We f%%%d up and can’t fix it until the moron who created the mess is gone.
