From a pilot leverage perspective, having AT FOs now get paid what DL CAs make will only help during negotiations. Get it done and quick. No kidding.

LuvJockey, I'm truly sorry to hear that. I think the DAL-NWA merger is a benchmark despite all its faults; obviously US Air-AWA is an example of the way NOT to do it.
If it went to an arbiter, I think the result would be relative seniority, and SWA guys would simply have to grin & bear it in order to move the company forward. Otherwise...this thing will drag on for a LONG time.

If you have disparate demographics, then the taks becomes MUCH more difficult, ...by orders of magnitude.

Just don't try to screw your new co-workers is all I ask at this time since unfortunately you guys are near the top rung of the ladder right now.... so there's not much room for you to move the rungs higher right now.

The success of the DAL/NWA merger is more of a product of the demographics rather that any particular nuance of the process or skill of the participants. It just so happened that there was a tolerable solution when the standard tricks were applied. Had it happened a few years earlier, it would probably have been done over a weekend.

Columbia is right, we as Delta pilots would love for this to go a lot better. Worse case scenario is the whole idea of a merger is dropped. That would hurt.
I thought they'd just put something together and let people vote? Not even that? I mean if FL pilots want to vote in a partial staple that's their business but I thought it be proffered in a vote.
Why would it be in melt down mode btw? Pilot feedback or ALPA or SWAPA or SWA?
I wonder if DOH would work and then come up with some wacky, or fancy, fences and triggers?

In 08/09 the SLI might have been a headache but the direction of the economy flung us together with very little friction.

Folks, it bears repeating because it seems to have been missed.
The SLI isn't in 'meltdown' mode. Both MC's are wisely refusing to give out any information about the Agreement In Principle until the details are agreed upon and the language is vetted.
And how could a negotiated agreement be in 'meltdown' mode anyway? If we can't agree, then we go to arbitration. It's all spelled out in the Process Agreement.
It's going to be at least another week before the details are released and the agreement is road showed/put out for a vote.
