Maybe someone could fill me in on the process. The way I understand it is that you interview, and if you score high enough they'll send your info to the hiring board. What exactly do they do that the interviewers can't. Is it a formality or do they really look at applicants closely?
I heard I'll need three letter of recommendations, and that SWA guys can submit them electronically but non SWA guys will have to give them for me to hand in at the interview.
Anything else? Where do guys in training stay (hotel)? The company gave me a limited list of hotels that provide transportation to HQ. I'm assuming there's other hotels in the area.
Thanks!

Everyone's interview packet and application will be considered at the decision board. The interviewers are basically just taking notes and making a recommendation to the board. The board is who decides yes or no. SWA pilots can submit an internal rec through our company intranet, external recs can be hand carried or submitted electronically through pilot credentials I believe. You need a minimum of three letters from people who have flown with you and the interview team will call them and talk to them too. Hotel during new hire training is provided by the company. Typically it's the Doubletree (used to be Wyndham) directly across the street from the Love Field entrance. Hotel will provide transportation to and from the training center and HQ.

Ok thanks for the info!

I was wondering about the decision bored because others have commented that if your references were called prior to the decision board that was a very good sign. The question I have is if this is true, how do they know who's references to call?

What percentage of dudes typically get the job?

Has anyone heard if they're sending out more invites for July interview dates? I'm assuming the June slots are all full by now...

It was great meeting everyone today at interviews. I was in the morning session, and got to chat with the morning interviewees a lot - and a bit with the afternoon bunch. A good & diverse group.

For those who interviewed earlier, hold on, the wait is almost over. Rocky mentioned interview board in "early June." We were told if we make the cut, we're probably looking at an August class.

Overall, everyone was very friendly.

Did you do a prep? I keep going back and forth.

I did. I really recommend it. I'm a humanities major, with a masters in HR...and the interview prep still helped.

Did they mention today if they were going to continue to send out invites?

I felt the same way as you do when I received the invite. I broke down and did the full prep and was hired.. If you want the job and it doesn't break the bank I'd say go for it. It definitely doesn't hurt your chances and you certainly won't be left with a "what if" sensation should it not work out. I am by no means affiliated with Emerald Coast but they have an audio prep for $95 that I think is worth the listen if you don't want to go all in.

I'm also curious about this and how many prospective hires they proposed for the following year.
