At WAI, Rocky specifically said one of the reasons they don't require minimums to attend the job fair is they don't want to exclude people who are just shy of the minimums but will reach them soon. You've got the ticket, might as well go!

I fly around 550 hours per year, so 50 more hours shouldn't take long.

Thanks for all the responses guys!

Then you're good to go. And don't worry about your corporate background. You bring with you a different level of customer service than the regional or military guy. I had a pure 135 background and if nothing else, you'll have some interesting answers to the TMAAT questions that they haven't heard before.

Agreed. Any contact with recruiting is still contact.

I was 91 for over 8 years (regionals before that). Many in my interview group had 91 time as well.

Don't sell yourself short.

I understand these are low times compared to what I have seen people be hired with lately.

One other reason I wanted to go was to talk to recruiters about coming straight from corporate to SWA.

What do you think about going?
You'd better go because you've taken a slot someone else could have used and to not go would mean it was wasted (they said the slots were non-transferable).

Hello all. I am one of the lucky ones who was able to secure a spot to the upcoming job fair. I would really like to hear from those who attended the previous job fair hosted by Southwest. How much weight does this event carry in being called for an interview? How many who attended and met the minimums received an invite to interview? Would you recommend a interview prep for this event? I am at 5900 hours tt and about 2650 turbine PIC all corporate. I do not have a degree. I am trying to not let my hopes get too high, but I am really excited about this opportunity. I would love to work for Southwest .

I attended the last recruitment event and am lucky enough to attend this one as well but would not recommend an interview prep for this kind of event. All it is is you break into groups and they take you on a tour of the TOPS building, have a Q&A session with Rocky then a one on one session with a recruiter for about 10 min or maybe less and they heard everyone in and out like cattle. No real time to stand out and impress anyone from the time that is given. Recruiter will read through your pilot credentials app and southwest.com/careers app to make sure you do not have any critical errors. I do know that people were given interview invites after the fair but not sure how many. I did meet the minimums and have not heard a peep. Hope this somewhat gives you an idea.

No prep for this, its really just an open house where you take a tour and talk to a "pilot recruiter" about your application. I dont think it holds much weight at all honestly.

I've heard of many whom attended the event and didnt get a call. I've heard of even fewer who got a call shortly after the event. It's hard to say weather the call was because of the event or your number just happen to come up and get a call.

Im similar in time as you with a bit more TPIC, with a 4 year degree, and 121 experience and didnt get a call.

The only advice is have your pilot credentials up to date as you'll review it...and bring a few resumes.

Thats it.

I disagree. I went last time and got the invite 2 weeks later. Most in my interview group also went to the event. In my new hire class it was the same. Quite a few went to the same event.

Thanks to all who replied. To those who got the invite, did you feel like it was an interview to know you individually or more just looking at your app on pilot credentials? Any idea what you think got you the invite? Congratulations by the way. I am sure you were more than qualified.
