Not fighting for anything, unless they make me work on a day off

They can't make you work on a day off.

I'm not trying to be snarky or argumentative, I really don't get what you're saying. Sometimes you don't have a reasonable choice other than working on a day off.

If the last leg of a trip is cancelled or delayed and I'm stuck in another city until my day off, they sure as heck can "make me" work on a day off.

I'm honestly not sure what's not being communicated here. This isn't a hypothetical "if it happens" thing, it's "when it happens", and that's why the contract has a rule about it. Who hasn't had a trip where maintenance and/or crew availability delays caused the last leg of the trip to be delayed long enough that the choice was to work on a day off, or not go home at all?

Ok yes in that case. They can't knowingly send you into that situation though

Reserve question: If you are assigned to R8 and see that your first day of reserve has a trip with a show time of say 10:00 am is this legal? given that we are supposed to have 3 hours to be at the gate after being notified?

It's 3 hours to push, really 2:15 to the gate. And what they will do is call you at 8 and beg you to get there by 10am. You can say no and they will have no choice but to push back the departure time and take a delay, or they will usually offer MUP for the whole trip to incentivize you.

It is legal for them to assign the trip, but you won't be required to show up until three hours after notification. So when they call you at 8:00, wait 15 minutes and call them back. At 8:15 you will be notified so you must be at the airplane ready to depart at 11:15.

Don't self notify the day before or you will have to show at 10.

The first part of you post is wrong. It's 3hrs to arrive at the aircraft and be ready for departure. This has been confirmed by the union numerous times. If you guys have questions about this there is a really good guide for new hires on the SPA ALPA page. It's on the new hire tab. Plese do not help them out in these situations they have been doing that more than ever.

Not trying to argue, but how is "3 hours to arrive at the aircraft and be ready for departure" different from what I said which is "3 hours to push, really 2:15 to the gate" (since the FOM calls for 45 min prior sign in times for a reason).
