You guys need to learn some reading comprehension. I’m referring to southwest.

In regards to adding a trip at the gate after your original trip ended, is that limited to the summer months or at anytime throughout the year?

Well... 9-10 months later, after changing NC and our union leadership, we had industry-leading pay rates, until Delta and subsequently United with their me-too clause passed us, and we also got a B-plan.

It all boils down to what you're willing to accept. Pay comes and goes... PBS was a major concession of the last decade, and you're giving it away for bringing you closer to industry standard? I also think you should read a little more about LTD at other airlines and see how things work elsewhere since many of you seem to be excited about it. Hint, you can and should do FAR better.

As for unity... well, that's up to your leadership, how communicative they are, and how fired up they are. When we were in negotiations, we were getting something almost every day from the union. When over 1,000 pilots showed up for a picket in Dallas during blistering heat... you couldn't ignore it. Mind you, this is the biggest koolaid drinking pilot group in the industry. Strong leadership and defined goals. Do you have that?

I don't know what to say to you guys. I'd like to see you engage in a pattern-based bargaining fashion, or at least get very close, but you seem to be going against the very lanyard many of you wear and it's puzzling, to say the least.
Maybe I am expecting too much, but why are G4, F9, NK aso not included in your list of peers when calling yourself the bottom of the industry? You were a few dollars away from DL, AA and UA when you threw out TA1. If I loose my medical before TA2 and the SSA declares me healthy, but the FAA doesn't give me my license back (this is happening to someone I know very close), I would get 2 years. With TA1 I will get till 65. My pay will go up over 50%, my schedule will remain mostly the same (middle seniority, never get conflict, other rules remain same/better).

LTD at NK:
I make $300.000/yr, pay $95/mnth. If I lose my license I get $15,000/mnth ($10,000/mnth tax free) till age 65 with own occupation.

CMIIAW LTD SWA:
capped at $11.500/mnth till age 60....
doesn't sound better

Only you guys can determine what you’re worth...

And yes, you have outdated info. It’s up to $12.5k until 65, however if you choose to have additional VLOL, it’s 75% of your income payable either in lump sum (pricier) or monthly... I believe that’s for 5 years.

Do you guys stay on company medical insurance if you go out on medical and do you and family retain your travel benefits? That’s one of the sore spots here...

Thanks for the updated info. There is obviously a big problem when the union doesn't give us the latest info when they compare the other carriers to us. I think they got us the best they can get , and I think the NMB won't give us anything more if we vote this down and get a new MEC and NC. For every me there is a lot of people who think we can, but no certainty...

Two ways to trade: with the company and with fellow pilots. If I want a stretch of days off, even as a junior pilot, I’ve been able to get them. As to the specifics, read our forum, it’s been discussed ad nauseum. Is it perfect? Nope. Can it be improved? Absolutely.

As to getting JA’d, you’re paid double time for it. If you’re fatigued, you call fatigued, and you’re off. Get JA’d and you have a big event, call your chief and your trip is gone.

It was more of a dig at you for coming on here telling us “not to sell our work rules for the money”. You guys get paid a lot and have some very efficient pairings. Our TA is still superior to yours as far as flexibility goes. You have more days off but work harder when you are at work. We can swap/ drop days much easier. Obviously we are inferior when it comes to compensation. I don’t believe the TA will affect anyone’s quality of life unless they are reserve pilots who drop often because they actually want the day off. Those are few and far between.

Yes, and difficult for our group to make an informed assessment when they're "selling" inane numbers like - 14:1, 12M per year savings, etc..

These days if you get called for a turn on rsv you can pretty much pack a lunch and expect to be home later that day. The checkout call was either see you for your RAP tomorrow or here is your assignment for tomorrow. The question is under the TA will you now get called for that same turn and then constantly be extended into some six day odyssey every block. I guess we’ll have to see- if it passes that is.

So what your saying, contract expert, is that you don’t realize they could already do that to you on reserve, right now, under the current TA. It’s happened to me a couple of times and is completely legal under the current contract.
