Lol, I dunno, I can’t live my life constantly comparing. If I did that I’d never be happy. We have nice airplane to fly (except for the POS NEOs, lol), pilot friendly Chiefs, good instructors that do a great job with what little tools they are given and we just signed a solid contract. Im glad JB is leap frogging us, I hope F9 does too.
Anyway, to the new guys, welcome!! Negotiations sucked but they are over. Good place to work with great crews! I can certainlyunderstand why some guys are so bitter but FFS, don’t give this place that much power/control in your life.
Flame away..........

Not even funny man, why would you be glad if jetblue leap us? You should be embarrassed if they do. Why are we different! Don’t tell me because of the TRO bull💩

What are your chances of getting the Airbus or 190 over there as a new hire? There’s a really good chance you get stuck sitting in a 190 flying regional routes in the north east. I agree with most of your points but I wouldn’t pass on a Spirit job hoping JetBlue calls.

pilot friendly Chiefs... No complaints
good instructors... Mostly, but I hear two names in FLL and one in DFW
just signed a solid contract.... Strongly disagree, we got a long overdue raise, lost too much QOL for ever.
don’t give this place that much power/control in your life.
Good for you Chimpy. Always positive since day one.
Can't beat driving to work, right?
I honestly appreciate your happy go lucky attitude, which is the best way to lead, but the worst way to negotiate.
We do have a great group of pilots.
Management perceives that as a weakness, and they made bank on it.
This is work we are talking about , NOT life.
I love being a pilot, but do not rely on NK for happiness...

Because we will have that much more leverage when it comes time to renegotiate. You can sit here and dwell on what could have been or you can just take reality (contract 2018) for what it is.

I received a call this morning. I was told that they liked my interview I just need more ME time. I was asked to call when I get the time and they will have me back out to interview again. I’m glad to have heard something at least. And to have a phone call instead of a TBNT email is a positive if you ask me. Hopefully in a few months I will be there!
How much ME do you have right now?

My career goals are simple. Stability (at least, as stable as the airline world can be), a work schedule that puts me home more days than not, and enough income for my wife to not have to work if she chooses to stay home. Spirit satisfies all of those goals. Everything else is ancillary.
More is great. But once you have enough, more is not the answer to happiness. I'll vote for contracts that increase our compensation and vote against contracts that compensate us less than our peers every day of the week. But at the end of the day, Spirit pays me enough to meet my family's needs. And that is where its connection with my personal happiness ends. Contentment is worth a lot.
(And that's why I would be a terrible negotiator
)

...I mean really?
The votes have been counted so it's pointless, but nobody knows if we could have done better. All I know is what I believed when I cast my vote and what I believe to this day. That being that we had reached a point of diminishing returns and that voting no would possibly mean another month or two, or just as likely another year or two.
You are right about the TRO though. The TRO was just an instrument for Spirit management to save face. What you're not seeing is that the meltdown of May 2017 cost millions. Yes, it was a direct result of poor planning by the company, but it would have been insignificant in comparison if pilots were answering their phones or picking up open time. You can believe it or not but the NMB took that into consideration in regard to considering our release.
On a positive note, you've got a seniority number and the industry is growing everywhere. Stick around to see what happens or start over somewhere else. It doesn't suck.

When some of us got here, 5-7 years ago there was a different CEO, newly announced huge expansion plans and a positive and widely optimistic environment.
The CEO was changed, the new one NEVER bothered to even introduce himself, while the contract negotiations were drawn to a painstaking 30 months.
We the pilots were falsely sued in a TRO, to cover up management's incompetence.
Followed by our new "CEO's" initial communication, a threatening email.
Our NC was negotiating under the constant threat of the TRO in which their names were named.
This is definitely not the airline many of us were excited to be hired at.
While it may still be a step up form the regionals, it is by no means what we hoped for, when joining.
Loss of seniority and the fear of furlough elsewhere, are the main reasons why many folks stick arround.
Anyone truly honest with themselves can clearly see that.
Not having the benefit of a crystal ball, I have made tough choices in my aviation career, my most recent one is to retire here.
I believe there is still hope, but not under this current leadership.
If, and when, the board decides that they want to make this a great Airline and not just a company to milk and turnover for quick gains.
Spirit may be bough, merged or become the new SWA.
I would prefer the latter, however in-spite of my optimism I am concerned that the first two options are more likely.
Although they have a good group of pilots... I truly wish it's not Frontier.
