I wonder if their jumpseat committee is aware that they are the worst airline to jumpseat on by far, and do they care enough to promote improvements?

I just jumpedseated on AA yesterday. They had a yellow face on MyID. When I got there, it was a 319 with 70 open seats. I had the whole row (both sides) to myself. How does that make any sense?

Haha and I say there is a 50/50 chance they didn’t clear you until 10 prior.

I don’t know exactly how myidtravel works but I’ve noticed this with B6 also. Notice when you select “show details” there’s a bunch of letters followed by a number. I believe that 9+ gives the green, 1-8 gives the amber, and 0 is red. I think that B6 and AA can only show “7” or less after the letter; hence they always show as amber or red. I’ve had wide open B6 flights only show as amber also.

The StaffTraveler app is much better for checking loads.

AA will always be yellow. They don't ever give away their loads.

You can get a rough idea of seats on AA by trying to buy a ticket on said flight. Then it will have the seat map.

Depending on how far out it is, some of those seats might show available, but you also have to keep in mind that the Basic Economy ticket holders get seats assigned. Depending on how close it is to the flight, the number of seats showing might be off. Not 100% sure on that though.

They could have already assigned seats, internally, to the BE folks and what you see on the seat map is legit.

Either way you’ll get a fairly decent idea.

Or just use the staff traveler app and know exactly what the loads are.

I’ll have to give it another shot. I used it when they first launched and it wasn’t quite up to par. This was a couple years ago.

How do they get the loads so accurately?

When you check-in 24 hours prior for a Jetblue flight, you can see how many seats open and the standby list. MyIDTravel will show an amber face when it’s between 1 seat open to completely empty. Red face with zero seats.
