My interview was done with two people - Sandi and an instructor pilot.

Cats are like Bic razors, as soon as it gets old you should toss it and get a new one.

I’m current ANG and a former active duty instructor pilot. I was asked point blank by Sandy why I wouldn’t just leave when the big 4 call. I gave her an honest answer and I got the job back in Dec of 15. I do not believe it was Sandy, she has done awesome hiring for this pilot group. I don’t think story has any merit.

Sandi is amazing, don't be bad mouthing her with clearly false accusations. there are no line pilots present at the interviews. AT ALL. Only a chief pilot or some management pilot.

Just wanted to say, this is the first time I think I have ever seen line guys talking up HR people and saying good things about their hiring practices. I think it's awesome and makes feel like I am on the right track applying here.

That's it. Out.

Day one after being furlough at a legacy we had a guy show up and get his new ID and walk upstairs, drop the guard card and jumpseat home. He said I'll go sit at my Guard unit till I don't have to sit reserve. BYE!" This has been going on for a long time and now Airlines have figured it out. Delta says they love the RJ guys. They actually come to work and are plug in play! They don't use the "Card"! So if in fact your buddy showed up at Spirit while on Mill leave and was pressed about his use of Mill leave by HR I'd say they think he's a "Card dropper". That's awful bold to be on Mill leave and go interview. Doesn't sound like the Military really needed this person that bad if he can go interview for another job while on Mill leave. I wouldn't hire card droppers. I'm glad HR put the heat to him. Clearly they saw something they didn't like. If you are in the Reserves and protect this country Amen! If you abuse the system don't be surprised when you get called out.
He was on involuntary active duty for one year. Nothing like the situation your quoting.

She really is a diamond in the so called rough that can be HR departments. They’ve done a nice job so far of hiring pilots who fit into our “brotherhood” mentality. This pilot group is awesome and we wanna keep it that way...doesn’t matter where you came from as long as you fit the bill...if you get a face to face with her...show her this is where you really wanna be and you don’t need a hat or a double breasted jacket to make your man parts feel bigger. Good luck

Answer to your question is no. I've been around way to long for you to act like guys don't drop the "guard card". They do it. Even my buddy at DAL that does the hiring says they've moved to hiring the RJ guys. Why? The guard guys drop the card for the first year to skip the pay and reserve. Sandi busted him and he's out! Move on!! Go to UAL they thinks cool!
