Ugh. Typical pilot. “Free breakfast”. You make a quarter mil a year, buy a breakfast; cheap

And keep your shuttle, I’ll take the private transportation. Regional mentality.

Agreed, wish we could have kept the old rules but I had no say since I was a probie back then. From what I remember the company was fine with leaving the hotel language unchanged but ALPA stepped in because pilots were b*tching about the van ride to some of the long stays hotels and now we have sacrificed overnight QOL to stay at Hampton Inn/Comfort Inn/Holiday Inn Express by the airport. And to top that off we get to share the hotel shuttle with pax who don't know where the hell they supposed to be going.

Really? Where do we stay in a HI express?

Disregard, I was referring to DTW and thought it was a HI express but it is a normal HI. But still...the point is these hotels offer limited options for food and exercise compared to the long stay hotels. At a short stay hotel you just have to deal with whatever is there and risk the safety issue of walking down a busy airport street with little to no sidewalks or crosswalks, unless the company wants to provide a rental car for us at all short stays over 14 hours. That will never happen though.

You’re forgetting the simple issue; so many of our group wants a 5 minute shared shuttle ride to the airport, hotel happy hour, free breakfast, and shuttles that run on the half hour.

Remember when we switched from the Holiday inn in LGA? Guys were upset they lost their $9 hamburger meal at the Holiday Inn. Why stay in the city with the best food in the world when you can have a $9 Holliday Inn burger in Queens.

Like I said...ask 2200 pilots....get 2200 responses.

The hotel committee is actively trying to leave the HI Secaucus, e-mail them with your suggestions please.

Frugal. I like spending money on bigger things. Typical pilot is ok with me. The shuttle with delays works better, but the fancy private transportation is a nice touch once in a while.

New hotel policy sucks.
The new hotel policy under the new contract (and post PBS) has created far more short stay hotels as the company builds shorter layovers into the pairings.
Part of the savings the company has realized with the short stay hotels is the reduced need for private transportation since short stay hotels usually provide van service.
We’re also seeing far more short stay hotels which are not full service, meaning to hotel restaurant/bar and fake food for breakfast (powdered eggs, meat-like bacon).

Just because it’s s short stay the hotel quality should not be reduced. BOS short sucks. PIT short sucks. DFW short sucks. CMH short sucks.

All Hotels weather long or short should be full service and at least a Crowne Plaza/Marriott/Hilton/Sheraton quality.

Possible Plane Order

The old Pittsburgh long was the best and we lost it I heard. Embassy suites right downtown... Perfect pilot hotel...

Phl and atl short. Horrible for a 16 hour overnight. Zero options for food. Not a single thing to do outside except stand in a parking lot.... let’s stop calling an 18 hour overnight short....
