WAG, but here goes. The gubberment pays NK to keep pilots employed at 72 hrs/month until Sept 1 (or whatever the date is). NK receives grant money for such and then convinces 1,000 pilots to be paid for 50 hrs/month for a net PROFIT of 22,000 credit hours per month (round, round numbers) and then furloughs the bloody !@#$ out of everyone with a fatter cash balance than they started. Am I missing something?
it looks like if they take loan money they cannot furlough more than 10% for a two year period.
I guess we don’t know a lot yet and if they will take any grants or loans. I also may be misreading a lot so I’ll defer to our pros at ALPA to interpret it correctly.

That's about the size of it .If the company says to the union that they are going to need to furlough X unless concessions are given, then that is roughly the number that will ultimately be furloughed after the concessions/voluntary measures have run their course. In this instance, the taxpayers are the initial voluntary measures being subsidized by 50 hour go away lines.

Now, if the current mood is just to stave off a unforseen blip in the business, all is well . If one believes what UAL management is publicly saying, this is a long term problem with long term solutions then that will marry up to my above post .
Personally, I think we can ride it out short term and be back on track within six months .I hope that is the case . If not, bottom 25-50% of both sides of the list need to plan accordingly .

I talked about my experience in another thread on here. I got the virus and tested positive. I'm 28. I would be considered fit by a doctor. I spend my overnights working out and running. I have 0 underlying health conditions or any pre-existing things such as some sort of other illness. I always wiped everything down in the planes and washed my hands pretty religiously lately. For me, it started with the a slight runny nose followed by losing my sense of smell/taste. I got home from my trip and the chills/muscle aches and fever started. Lasted about 8 days. Cough developed shortly after that. On day 11 with a fever of 103 and shortness of breath I drove myself to the ER. Ended up in the hospital for 4 days. I needed oxygen, but luckily not a ventilator. Turns out I developed pneumonia from the virus. It really sucked. I'm still technically recovering now, but I'm out of the hospital and essentially symptom free. Just waiting the doctor recommended time period before going back into work. See you all halfway through April.
