Yeah, you're right, it's way better to just not even have the OPTION to upgrade for 4+ years... Can't give people options or choices... Just make your concerns theirs and tell them they are better off at a ULCC with a 4+ year upgrade vs going to Delta and have the option of an upgrade in less than a year. I see what you mean.

I guess if we open up a CA bid for ACY we could advertise a 6th month upgrade too! It would give those "options" you talk about. Then I could tell them how much better off a 4 year upgrade is at B6 because they will be flying Widebody aircraft and have a sound business model as a LCC.

Has Spirit actually decreased daily departures out of the domiciles affected by the displacement bid? Or are these domiciles just “stockpile” bases where lots of pilots are based, but most trips leave the base and then fly around the system for a few days before returning?
In other words - was the cause of the displacement bid a genuine reduction in operations at the domiciles, or just to “right-size” the bases in keeping with the new philosophy of more turns and two-day trips?
Frontier closed their Chicago base, but they had been reducing the amount of daily departures for quite a while, so it wasn’t really a massive shock to anyone who had been paying attention.

They claim other bases are covering Florida flying and those will be chopped. We’ll see.
